Hello all, I have a question and hope someone can tell me what we might be dealing with.
My grandson is 7 years old and had Febrile SZ untill around 3 years of age. He went 4 years and no SZ activity. Last monday he had a Grand Mal, and was admitted to the hospital. Long story short he was sent home on Dilantin, and further testing on outpatient basis.
Last evening, he had something, I don't know if this was a SZ as I have never seen one of this nature. His arms and legs started shaking and he was out of it, as if in a catatonic state. He did not respond to any verbal commands. His mom tried to get him to come out of it, she turned his head( he was sitting in a chair) to look at her, but his eyes remained focused and still in postion they were before she turned his head, in other words, head turned, eyes did not. When he started to come out of it, he was fighting slapping and hitting at us. This was after about 15 minutes. Do any of you have episodes like this or have you witnessed anything like it? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Warm wishes to you all,
PS..forgot to say his diagnosis at this time is Atypical SZ disorder.
Don't walk in front of me....I may not follow
Don't walk behind me....I may not lead
Walk beside me..and be my friend...
and Lord, put your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth
