I have been searching online a little bit but I haven't really found an answer to if a specific emotion can cause an seizure.

I know websites say prolonged stress and stuff like that can do it, but in my case I have noticed one specific emotion causing an immediate seizure.

That emotion is disgust.

If I see something particularly icky like a really dirty table or a creepy bug and go all out "ew" and shiver, I will have a seizure within 10 seconds or so. This has happened well over 20-30 times.

Just found this interesting, wondering if anyone else knows of an emotional trigger like this, or equally "silly" ones.

Hey Sarabi

I haven't heard of emotions that triggers seizure but I'm pretty sure that stress can trigger seizures. It's possible that once you felt disgust, you feel stress and that is what triggers the seizures.

The good thing about this is you know what triggers your seizures therefore you ae equipped with preparation and you have the chance to avoid it. I will be researching further for the triggers of seizures and I will inform you immediately once I see something worth mentioning. I hope you get better soon..

stress and anxiety, they are big triggers, Jon Hopkins thought mine were triggered by stress. I talked to someone who said his trigger was anger, I would say anything that overloads the brain.

Strong emotions are associated with changes in brain chemistry. So it makes sense that yes, they can trigger seizures in some people.

Those with Sensory Processing Disorder can have very strong reactions to specific triggers, like this. Look into it. You still may need to be medicated - - have you tried meds yet?
