This is going to sound strange.  Hopefully someone can relate.

Ever since I got pneumonia in late October, I have been on alot of meds, and not getting much better.  Anyway recently, I have been waking out of my sleep with actual vertigo.  I am laying down and almost "spinning" or like have the spins when you are drunk.  It has been scaring me and I go back to bed and things seem okay in the morning.

Do you all think this is E related?  Maybe med related?  Stress related?  Or some new beast thing going on?  I was put on levaquin for 17 days in total.  If you google levaquin and keppra it is a big NO NO to take both at once, but again, my PCP and Neuro said it was fine.  Help if you can.
Thanks Tracy

Hi Tracy-

Sorry you are having so many problems.  Dizzyness with meds seems like a common problem from the posts that I read.  But seeing that you were taking Keppra and Levaquin AND were sick with the pneumonia,  maybe it's all three things.

I got an episode of vertigo years ago and didn't get over it for several weeks.  It was much worse whenever I was lying down and it finally went away.  It was related to a sinus infection, but I guess there are so many variables in your case.

I'm assuming you're off the Levaquin?  Maybe things will get better now. Take good care of yourself!

Lots of HUGS,  Glenda :-)

Hi Mandiann
It scares me that maybe that is what is going on. Hard to say and I must document this. I have never felt right since the pneumonia thing all last month. THanks for the reply. Sometimes I just need a response to feel better and others can relate. The vertigo is scary and it like wakes me up and then I pass right back out. It is so weird. And very much so there, for the brief amount of time. I didn't notice any other post ical signs. :) HUGS

Glenda, so nice to hear from you . Actually to elaborate, I did have along with my double ear infection and pneumonia, a sinus infection. I truly don't understand why I can quickly reference material online contraindicating disorders and meds, but both docs look it up and say it is fine. I don't know thanks alot for the post though. Maybe the sinus problem is having an effect on me. I am still not clear yet and my ears are still not well.

My teacher at school is keeping an eye on me. She thinks I may be anemic. There are a few classic ways to see signs and symptoms. Anyhow I have been anemic in the past so it wouldn't shock me.

IF ANYONE else has ever had this waking up with vertigo mid-night e related or not please reply if possible.
Thanks Tracy

Hi guys. Folks from another board think it is either related to a middle ear infection, sinus infection, and other stated seizures. I am nervous.

Should just call the neuro tomorrow to let him know or wait until it happens again. Thanks again, Tracy

Hi and thank you for the reply.
I spoke to my teacher today. She has been an RN probably over 30 years now and is so so smart. Actually we are learning pharmacology right now. Anyway, I asked her opinion after school. I told her everything, she already knew about what she saw, pneumonia, ear infection, sinues ect. But she didn't know about the seizure disorder or med combo. She was concerned that the vertigo is only at night and wakes me up. She actually mentioned something about pettie mals happening at night sometimes. It was nice to hear someone say that, just to know they do understand. You hear all these horror stories about nurses only thinking Sz's are incontence or bitten tongue. So that is was made me happy.

I then called the Neuros office to either make an appointment or to speak to his assistant. I spoke to her my story and the first thing she asked was have you had any sinus infections and I said yes and she said there you go. I further explained my concern because this was only happening at night and they wake me up. She said she will leave a message for the Dr. and see what he says. They some things off. We'll see tomorrow. Just hope I have another good night with no spins! HUGS Tracy
