In case most of you don't know this, aspartame causes seizures. Stay away from the diet sodas! Do a search in google, for aspartame and epilepsy and you'll see.

I just Googled aspartame and it led me to some of the scariest sites I've ever seen.  Seizures seem to be the least of our worries.  I'd never even heard of asparame until Houls' post. Now it appears that the stuff causes everything from dandruff to yellow fever. (Quote: "Aspartame has 92 official side effects. The worst is DEATH!"). We appear to be drinking something worse than cyanide everytime we swig a diet cola.  Either that or, and I merely suggest this, the internet is full of lunatics.

Take care everyone,

Andrew

hi there.

aspratame will lower your seizure threshold if you have a sensitivty to the substance. But many forms of epilepsy are due to damaged brain tissue or are because of a congenital disorder, so aspartame will have no affect on their seizures whatsoever.

Some truth about the aspartane 'scare':

Medical toxins on Snopes.com.

Just thought this might offer some clear information.

What about diet soda's with Splenda, I try to drink the Splenda ones if I can find them. Like Pepsi One or Diet Coke w/ Splenda. I know that aspartane is bad for you. But my problem is that I have 3 doctors telling me all different things. One says I have seizures, one anxiety attacks, the last (Cardiologist) says their Syncope. Still I have them. I have been on meds for all 3 of these and still have them so you can just imagine how I feel. The attacks I have are not grand mal but the petite mal type and I have auras 100% of the time. I NEVER had a car accident from this and now have my DL but it has been taken away for doctors reporting it 3 times so far in my life. And thats not from accidents but just going to appointments and telling the doc (Neuro) about my issues and he reports it. I think thats no fair at all!

Sorry to bable but I just wish they had a caffine free diet with Splenda in it. Of course they say caffine is bad for anxiety.

Thanks for reading,
FEN
