I started taking Keppra just a few months ago, adding to the Lamictal I've been on for a few years. I got really anemic and started dropping weight (which made everyone pitch a fit at me b/c I used to be anorexic). I got B6 and B12 deficiencies, so now I have to take supplements and drink Ensure (which makes me feel kind of funny since I'm 24 and I always thought it was a drink for old people). My doc had me stop taking the Keppra, to see if it was the reason, and the deficiencies got better, but I started having a lot more petit mal seizures, so now we're trying it again, with the supplements and Ensure, to see if we can reach a good compromise b/w the two. I have temporal lobe epilepsy w/ catamenial seizures, and a birth defect where part of the brain cells didn't develop, so we've tried a billion and one different meds, but no combination has been able to make me seizure free (from the tonic clonic kind, not just the petit mals) for more than a week.
What kind of seizures do you have? Is the Keppra helping? It seems to have more side effects than it's worth, but my doc says I should give it one more try before we throw it out with all the others.
