i have juvenile monoclonyic siezures which is when i get like jerks. well im on medication and its been working but the other night i got about 5-6 hours of sleep and i drank a lot the night before. i had to get up for a meeting the next morning. i woke up and had some jerks but figured it would pass by the time i got to the meeting. turns out it only got worse =(   from lack of sleep, and maybe even nerves my body flipped out on me.. my arms, legs, everything kept jumping and there was nothing i could do about it! it was embarassing and hurt =( everytime i go to work now i feel horrible and ashamed. im only 17 and i feel like i never ever want to go out dirnking again. my friends do it every weekend but im just scared. i dont want to be scared to live and have fun while im young. i really need someone to talk to, but no one understands =(

Don't be ashamed, you can have fun.
You probably know that you should not drink with the medication. I know that you want to be like all the others , but your true friends should support you. Hey put a stirrer in a soda, people won't know what your drinking. If someone ask you say rum and coke. Just be youself and remeber you don't have to drink to have fun.

hey, I know how you feel... I am have grande mal seizures, I was diagnosed when I was 13.  I am 21 now and I know what you're going through.  There were many times when I had seizures and school and work, and they were embarrassing.  But I want you to know that, yes it is dangerous to drink too much on medication, but I lead a perfectly normal life.  I have a full time job and I take classes part time.  I just recently turned 21 and I have been enjoying the bar scene.  I think the advice you've gotten is right.  You should surround yourself with people you can trust to take care of you if something happens.  But don't be afraid to let loose with your friends.  Just know yourself, if you haven't had much sleep or you are really stressed out, take it easy... but don't feel like you can't go drinking with your friends. If you want to talk to me about it a little more let me know... Danielle
