please help me figure out if I am having seizures

I have lyme disease and developed some weird neuro problems, one of the issues is I suddenly stop seeing and hearing for very short periods of time and my doctor claims it might be a seizure, I find I am standing and having conversation but realize I missed half of the words, I once walked into a car and had no idea what happned till two people that pulled me back told me what happened, how is this diagnosed, what kind of EEG do I take? any response would be appreciated

not sure how to edit a post so I will continue, I lose track of time sometimes, my kids miss their bus because I forgot to send them out, they are dressed and ready, my kids knocked on my shower door twice to get me out, I sometimes see dark, any input or guidence would be greatly appreciated

Hi Judy,

From what you have described, it sounds like you are suffering from absenses (Petit-Mal Seizures). They are not necessarily caused by epilepsy. It could be the lyme interferring neurologically (Is this possible?). I would definately have an EEG done. Just a standard one should be OK. Not much call for a 24 hr one unless they have problems with the standard one. This is definately something that needs to be looked at in case you have an issue when you are doing something where it could be dangerous such as in the bath, driving, etc...

I am waiting for a name of a neurologist to order the EEG, as my doctor wrote orders for an overnight EEG and my hospital does regular EEG or 2 day, thanks for the response, at least I know I am not crazy and do need to look into this, its a bit difficult as since I developed Lyme Disease I developed lots of complications, what you are saying that it may be caused by other issues is possible as I did a SPECT scan and it showed hypoperfusion, Thank Again!

just wondering, are you on any meds?? I had the same responces when I was on Topamax for migraines. I thought i was going crazy.
I have psychogenic seizures, so I don't know much about EP, but I know any seizure is scary, so i'm sooo sorry.

I am on lots of antibiotics but no other drugs, its amazing you go off all the meds crossed off, how did you do that?

I do something called Energy Medicine and Psych-k (look it up). It has changed my life. I still need imitrex sometimes. I no longer suffer from depression, deal with anxiety by breathing a certain way, still have some sleep issues but the ambien didn't work anyway, and I didn't like taking the fentanyl, and my migraines are much better and treatable with the energy med. most of the time. There is a book by donna eden that is amazing.
Once we create new pathways, or beliefs, like I AM WELL, with our subconcious, and get our energy system balanced, amazing things can happen. read my post on the Chronic Pain forum, about the 5 min Energy routine, and also read the post "try this next time you have a seizure". Connecting up, is great for any occation.

Hi Judy,
my daughter has siezures. Some are the (petit-mal). But I really think you should consider the side effects of siezure meds. My daughter was onely haveing 1 type of siezure before siezure medication. And now she has a mixture of siezures.
I am 23 and I teach the teenagers in sunday school. Do you go to church? God is able to heal you and guide you in every sintuatin! Hope everything works for the best.

they do sound like absence szs. only a doc can tell you for sure. good luck!!
