I thought i'd start a topic just to demonstrate that us mods are not as different from you guys as some people seem to think. Mods are simply members who volunteer their time to making sure other members have support and that HW rules are not broken. Aside from that... we are just ordinary members underneath. We have problems like you guys have, we have good and bad days just like you guys have and we even have a sense of humour just like you guys have.

On a personal level, I have a step-grandma with Alzheimers, I suffer with Depression and Epilepsy, I am a stressed out student and I have bad days just like everyone else. I just thought that it would be nice to demonstrate that us mods are not super-human beings who take pleasure in deleting/editing peoples posts, but we are human after all and that our goal is simply having a forum where we all love and support each other.

I hope that some other moderators will join in this thread as well.

Best Wishes to all

Darren

Hi Darren
I too am only human and I have lost my mom to complications from Alzheimers and now looking after my dad with same DD

I have crohns, pyoderma Gangrenosum and Anxiety / Panic as well as some other illnesses ..............but it helps to come here and get the care and support from all..I have a teen daughter and 32 yr old son....retired RN and live in Ontario Canada

Moderators are sometimes thought to be out to " get ppl" because we have to edit or refer to rules BUT that is NOT ONLY what we are here for and why we spend endless hours reading posts and responding to them ..........For me it is because I am trying to give back as much as I can to HW and the ppl that helped me out and still do during those rough days ....I really enjoy seeing ppl make progress and be happy with the accomplishments they have made this makes it all worthwhile IMHO

Also to keep spammers in check and your info secure ( why we ask you to put it in profile not post as Non members can get it then not when in your profile)

Yep we do make mistakes we are only human and i am not above being corrected at all ..I welcome knowing if I have given wrong input .........and knowing right for next time ..........

I also hope more Mods will pop in and just give you an idea of them and why they are moderators

Anyone can apply as a Moderator ..at the side in yellow

If you feel you have the time and want to give something back to HW there is always volunterring

Take care all and know I too am the same as you.......Have DD and come here for the support and friendships........LYN

Human?  Moi?  OMG, yes!  A year ago I was a simple English instructor.  I also made homemade bread and desserts.  Then, I found out I was on the road to diabetes and had to monitor my blood sugar.  My first reaction was the lab tests are wrong  and then oh crap.  Since my mom and grandmother died from this disease, I knew I had to be proactive or I'd go down the same road.  So, now that I've been in pretty good control and I was made a moderator, I'm supposed to know everything?  No, I don't.  sad I'm learning as I go and have learned a lot from everyone on the Forum.  Since I love to cook, I guess you'd say different food is my forte.  This is not a perfect life though, as I see our son eating all the wrong things.  He's a tall, sweet 26 year old teddy bear but stubborn and thinks he's invinceable. eyes   On the other hand our 23 year old daughter is interested in changing what she eats and understands cause and effect, so to speak.  There are times I've slipped and eaten something I know I shouldn't nono but now it's easier to stay on track and I would say it's because of participating in the Forum.  Being in the same boat as so many others gives knowledge and understanding, a kind of comraderie (and a reason to follow my own advice!)  It's great meeting new people here!  The world is not as big as it used to be.

I think being a good listener is about as important as being a source of information sometimes.  I mean, I can find facts in books (or online now!), but to have someone really listen to you and understand what you're saying is very important.  Here on the Forum, it's nice to find listeners.  Hmm, maybe we should be forum whisperers.

Dear Friends

Good Afternoon...........yes Moderators are just members with problems like everyone else here. yeah

I have A & P, Depression, Gerd, IBS and a hubby with Crohn's.  I have lost a son in a car accident and just yesterday buried my sister.

The love and support I have received these past 3  weeks from the members of HW has just reinforced in me that mods are human and soak up the love and support of all the members of Healing Well.

So today I may be the person with the ability to help, but tomorrow I may be the recipient of other member's  effort.  Volunteering as a Mod is my way of giving back the love and support I receive.

Gentel Hugs to all

Kitt

Hello all..

I too started out as a regular member and then went to the MOD Squad.. but Being a MOD didn't change anything for me health-wise.. I still suffer from a plethora of ailments, you can read them in my signature.. and of course I have my days where I am moody and don't want to talk to anyone.. then I have days that I want to talk your ear off.. all depends on my mood and what stage my flares are in..

We just try to make sure everyone 'plays nice' on the forums.. we are all unique and things effect us all differently.. so please don't take any offense when we have to enforce the rules.. that's what we volunteered to do..

Great thread Darren!

Gracies's Mom

THANK YOU for your post
It is hard sometimes to be seen as the " bad Guys" because we have to edit or whatever but you are so right it keeps the forums running smoother..........and like Ducky said it is nice to " Play Nice"

I too have lost a son at age 6 and 2 husbands one in 1979 and the other was Caits bio dad 4 yrs ago ....mom only a couple of yrs ago .........Dad is not gonna be here much longer....

WE hurt and we do cry and also laugh BUT what we do get the most out of HW is seeing the vast improvements in ppl in our regular forums.........
and the steps they have taken to and for recovery

I KNOW that w/o Healing Well and the people on here I would be a lost soul..........

Thanks to all of you for making me not be that ........for your support and caring ........Luvs......LYN

Peter Waite deserves the most credit and biggest huggles ever for starting Healing Well........IMHO
