Ideas for sleep?

I think today it hit me how the lack of sleep is impacting my lifestyle; in every way. I don't seem to handle any stress as well as I used too. I have no motivation and no energy. I'm tired of being tired. The leg pains won't leave me and I think they will drive me crazy sad . With all the meds out there, isn't there something that can take the pain away? Right now the neurologist is trying me on Baclofan (muscle relaxer). I've been on this med for about 4 weeks now and sadly its not working. I had previously been takin zanaflex, no luck either. The weather here is rain for the next 4 days and so I think that's why my legs are aching so badly even during the day. I admit I'm feeling depressed (hard to admit that). Anyone else struggling with night leg pains that wake them up and if so, what helped you?

I usually take simple acetametaphen PM to help me to sleep at night, or a darvacet if I'm in a lot of leg pain. (Never both! They both contain acetapetaphen.) Have you tried a warm bath or shower massage at night? Might help...

(Sigh!) Wish I could be more helpful.

I use a moist heating pad on low, put it on both my legs. It does seem to help the pains during the night. Give it a try. I also take 2 over the counter Motrin right before I go to bed.

Have not tried a hot bath; I will give it a try tonight. I'm using a regular heating pad; is that good or bad? I take Aleeve during the day. I tried tylenol PM once before and it kept me awake, lol. Right now the pain subsided a bit; don't know if its because its raining, because I took the aleeve or because they are wrapped in ace bandages. I see my mood change instantly when my pain subsides. I can't imagine what a pain free night would do for me.

Exercise helps me. Water stretching and aerobics, swimming and tai chi. I sleep deeply.

I am with you on the leg pain.  That is by far my worst issue.  The other night my legs ached so bad, I couldn't stand it.  I finally remembered that I had arnica cream right next to me, so I rubbed some on, and took a melatonin.  Within 20 minutes I was asleep, practically pain free.
I am LOVING the melatonin.  It helps me sleep and I feel much more rested in the morning.  I am hit and miss with the arnica cream, sometimes it works great, other times not so much.  Maybe it depends when I use it, or for what type of pain.  It is worth a try tho, as it is natural, and inexpensive.
here's all my issues:  fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, pinched nerve in neck, high blood pressure, sleep disorder, Raynaud's disease, food allergies,
("but you don't look sick!")
what I take:  three different meds for high blood pressure, vitamins, magnesium and calcium.

i find epsom salt baths are great for relieving pain... just add 1 or 2 cups of epsom salts to a nice hot bath and soak for 20 minutes...
epsom salts are great for taking toxins out of your system... and it leaves your skin nice and soft an added bonus
i also find the johnson baby bedtime bath stuff helps  so if you add the two together it may help
it doesn't always help me but it usually does

Thank you all. I may give that melatonin another try. Diane, thanks, I reviewed that thread from Tuesday. I don't come on everyday and so I missed it. I will continue trying different things until I find what works; ugh
