Hi there,

Well, I've had fibro and lupus for over 8 years now. You'd think by now I could figure out what was affecting me.  Usually I can tell if it's fibro or lupus, but right now I'm in a total quandry.  This doesn't feel like lupus, and it doesn't feel like fibro.  It's different. I don't like this!  Make it stop! LOL.

I have all over joint pain.  It's weird.  Started in my feet a couple months ago and now it's all over my body.  I've never had this with my lupus. Joint pain is new for me.  I'm also super fatigued. I feel like I'm trying to function on a bottle of sleeping pills.  Today has been the worst day yet for this.

Is all over joint pain (the kind that comes and goes and moves around all day long) a common symptom in fibro? I hate having new symptoms and not knowing what to do about them.  Thank you for any advice or suggestions!

Where do you live? Which state? It sounds like you have lyme disease. Did you know that lyme masks itself with lupus, arthitis, CFS, Fibro, etc. You should watch this new movie thats coming out - www.underourskin.com You can watch the trailer. Please see a doctor that can correctly diagnose you with the right thing. If you are near NJ, you should see Dr. Fein in West Caldwell. Good luck. Let me know if I can help.

Hi Ginny

Sorry you aren't feeling yourself lately.  You say your joints hurt, and that it is all over your body.  Is there any swelling in the finger joints or wrists?  Another question, when the joints are hurting, is it for eg: both wrists, both feet both shoulders etc??
And one more question, have you taken your temperature when you're hurting?  I was thinking..or should I say guessing..at an arthritis problem.  Is the pain bone-deep?...these are probably the questions you will be asked when you make that doctor apptmnt for this.
Just keep a journal for now, about where the pain goes, and what time of day, and maybe take your temperature 3 times a day...especially when you are feeling that druggy type fatigue..it will come in handy at the appmnt too.

Lots of times the pain feels like it's in the joints but it's actually the tendons and ligaments that you are feeling.  I do get that.  I have had my thumb hurt so badly that I could barely hold a pen.  This went on for months and I was even practicing writing with my left hand...just in case.  It disappeared and now there is absolutely no pain!  Now I have two toes that are swollen and sore but I know if I wait long enough it will go away, too.  This is how fibro affects me.

I used ibuprofen and Tylenol and also rice bags that you heat in the microwave.  They give off moist heat.  I would wrap my foot in the bag and it made it feel better.  Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone,

Yeah, the pain is so fleeting it's impossible to keep track of!  Over the last couple of hours my "flu like" symptoms started, which is a sure sign that my lupus is flaring.  I did take my temperature and I don't have a fever, which is very good.  But crappers, I know in order to treat my lupus flare, I have to increase my prednisone and when I do that - holy smackers - my fibro goes crazy.  This is a horrible cycle that just keeps on happening.  I have 10 weddings to photograph with no breaks starting next weekend.... How in the world am I going to be able to this...... Thinking about it, makes me want to puke.

My rheumy is on vacation until August 11.  So I'm seeing my pcp next Friday. That's the best I can do.  Thanks for the support and feedback everyone,

Ginny, I know just how you feel about the joint pain, but I have osteo arthritis all over my body.  From my neck down to my toes.  I've had double knee replacement because the cartledge is worn out of them.  I know what you are going through right now and I wish I could give you some advice.  My orthopedic dr. prescribed 800 mg. of Motrin and told me I could take up to 4 a day if needed without it hurting me.  I don't usually have to take over two a day on my worse days.  If everything else fells, take otc. Motrin and see if that helps.

God Bless!
