Two years ago I was hospitalized with pneumonia, developed sepsis and almost died.  I have not had a day since where I've felt "good".
I may not get any of this in order, but I do want to describe some of my problems of the last 2 years.
'm always so tired - once I found myself dreaming that I was so tired I just wanted to lay down, and I woke up and realized I was bone tired, even though it was nearly morning.  My blood sugar has been running a little high (I eat mostly vegetarian, but do take fish oil supplements).
Just a few months ago, I was hospitalized with extremely high blood pressure.  I currently take 4 different medications and it's pretty much under control now.
about 2 months ago my endocrinologist said I have a vitamin D deficiency and gave me a prescription for 50,000 IU once a week.  I'm supposed to go back in 2 weeks, I guess to check progress?
Anyway, I've been having a lot of pain, it goes from about my elbows up to my shoulders, across my upper back and is really bad in the shoulder blades.  I went to a chiropractor because of the pain, and he died x-rays, which he said looked real bad so he sent them to a radiologist to read and I just got a copy of the results, which said that I have osteoarthritis of the entire cervical spine.
I have been thinking maybe I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, but haven't been diagnosed.  Does any of this sound like fibromyalgia, or would my problems just be related to cervical osteo and vitamin D deficiency?
I'm so confused and tired of being in pain all the time and tired of being tired all the time, and I don't know where to go next in getting help.  Would appreciate any advice.

Hi Nana Tex and welcome. Please read the second thread on first page called Fibro 101. There is a list of symptoms in it. You can print it off and check which symptoms you have. There are some that get fibro after a traumatic event in their lives. I've known a couple people who have had sepsis and that can be really bad, glad your okay. Well besides what you are going through now. tongue
My fibro started with mostly fatigue and then achiness and finally all over pain that felt like I had been beaten all over. Sadly, it has all gotten worse over the years. Some have had it to hit and they go from healthy to being in pain all over within an hour. The only way fibro can be dxd is by eleminated everything else it could be like lupus, MS and RA.
Sounds like you need a good rheumatologist that believes in fibro, all don't. I also have osteoarthritis along with fibro.
Ask questions, we are always happy to help.
luv and hugs

Hi Nana Tex,

I also would like to welcome you to the forum. You are amongst friends here.

Like Marlee said, you should probably see a good rheumatologist that believes in fibromyalgia. So remember that you hire them when you see them, and don't settle with a doctor that you don't think believes.

Good luck to you, keep posting.

Hugs, Karen

Hi, Nana Tex, and welcome!  As both Marlee and Karen have said, I would suggest you get a second opinion from a rheumatologist.  You could have both fibro and arthritis.  A rheumatologist would know.
Nearly every person with fibromyalgia seems to have pain across their shoulders and in their neck.  They can have pain elsewhere, too.  I know I do.  My shoulders and neck hurt all of the time and the other areas of pain seem to change daily...and sometimes hourly!  By reading the links in the Fibro 101 thread, you may be able to tell more of what is going on with you.  You know your body better than anyone else.
If you have fibro, we can help you here to get control of the pain and live a full life.  We also have an arthritis forum that is on HealingWell and it is also very good.  So, we've got you covered!
I'm so glad you joined us.  Let us know what happens with you.

Good evening, Nana Tex. Sorry you are feeling so badly. Your best bet is to get a dx from a rheumy for FMS. They will ck you for everything in the world, but that's how they determine it is Fibro. There is some great info on the front page and it might help to read over some past posts to see what some other members have done to help themselves. Some of the ideas may help until you get a definite answer from the dr. (and even after)

Pls continue to post, sometimes just asking questions, seeing common symptoms, venting, and yes, even laughing can help you thru the pain and fatigue.

Hope you have a pain free night.  God bless.  Alice.
