I was reading another post and it made me curious about this so I thought to ask you guys since your all so great! I just love this forum. :D

My arms get numb sometimes. Not totally, but just different. It also feels like I need to shake them. Sometimes my legs will do this, but not as often.
Is this another symptom of the fibro? Is there anything you can do to help it?

Thanks
Chelle

Good morning Chelle. I have numbness of my hands and feet also.  I was just dxd. in June so I don't know much about Fibro neither.  I thought my feet were both due to having both knee replacements, but I've read a lot on this forum and I think it sometimes goes with the Fibro.

Maybe some more people will let us know more about their symptoms.

God Bless!

Hey Chelle- give us a little more info on the numbness- does it begin with fingers, hands, or just becomes numb in the arms? If so, where- elbow, shoulder, wrist? There are a few things it can be. BE sure and talk with your doc about this at your next visit. Maybe you can begin journalling how you are feeling each day. This info may not mean much to an outsider, but to you over even a brief time will prove very helpful
Peace!

Well, I'm not sure if it can be described as numbness. It starts a little bit above the elbow and goes down to the wrist. It feels like its sleeping, or like I've put pressure on it to make it  cut the circulation off. It's not really numb come to think about it because I still feel everything. It just feels like sleeping or cut off the ciruclation, which causes me to feel like I need to move them or shake them to wake them up.

It also does this same feeling when I get my blood drawn and they put that thingy around my arm.

Well there are times when I get painful tingling in my arms which I've always associated with anxiety. There have been times though where the bottom of my feet felt tender and tingly as well and it was very awkward trying to walk like that. The later I suspect is probably fibro related but I'm not sure about the former.

Hi Chelle-
My feet and lower legs will go numb just standing for a short time. And my arms will fall asleep easily if laying on the couch or bed. I make sure I sit down when I feel the numbness, and if I'm laying on the couch or bed I just shift position till the symptoms go away. I never have had these symptoms before being diagnosed with fibro. :( GamJill

Hey GamJill,

Mine does the same thing, only sometimes (both legs and arms). I think I am going into a flare because I've had a really bad day today and its getting worse. I over did it yesterday. :(  So I do think it's all part of the fibro, b/c like you, I never had this back in the good ol' days, lol.

However, sitting down or laying down is not helping. No matter how much I shake them, it's not helping.  I was wondering if it may be something like restless leg, but also in the arms and if I can take something for that. The only problem is that I don't want to take medicine everyday for something that may happen once a month or so.

Chelle- do you have issues with your right shoulder, or between your shoulder blades? Or maybe your neck/shoulder blades? What are you doing when you first begin to feel the tingling? WRiting, typing, cooking? I'm curious about this and would like to think it through, I think alot of may be dealing with something like this that has not been explained. Thanks!

I do have an issue with my neck hurting along with this. I also have a tender spot between my shoulder blades that hurts when touched but is not causing a problem. My neck, mostly the right side had been bothering me lately. My fibro affects my right side more than the left but not exclusively. I know typing hurts, but I can't recall what action made them start feeling like this in the first place. It hurts just laying or sitting watching TV. I would not describe it as pain. So I don't want any type of pain medicine.  It seems like the more I use them, the more it has this numbing type feeling.

It started Saturday, when we took our kids fishing. Casting out hurt my arm, but it was already starting to hurt before that. Doing that just aggravated it. Then that night, I was pulling weeds, and trimming tree branches, so I figured I over did it. Oh yea, and played tee ball with the kids. Wouldn't trade a minute for any of it though. :D

Something else thats hurting is the bottom of my heels. It feels like my bone in the heel is going to go through the skin when I walk.

I just though it's the beginning of a flare. All my flare ups start differently though, so I can't really tell yet.

Chelle -
Yes, mine gets worse if I overdo it and it sounds like you have. My numbness in my arms comes easily too, like Sera had mentioned if I write, type or do any kind of cooking with my arms up.

I ignore it as much as possible and switch what I am doing. Let your Dr. know about it at your next appt. - my Dr. knows but does not seem concerned.

I had my nieces wedding this last Saturday and had so much fun and "over" did it and wouldn't trade a minute of any of it also. I made sure I did not do much yesterday and the same today.

I'm not sure about the heel pain. I do not get that. (At least not yet-) GamJill

Chelle- it may be that you have a nerve issue in your neck-shoulder blade area, or deeper in the muscles in that area, that is causing the tingling in your arm. One last question- do you ever find that your fingertips, or toes, or ears or tip of nose become numbish and/or cold, for no real reason? Also- do your hands ever feel the same?

Sera, fingertips and toes & tip of nose can be cold at times but not necessarily numb. My hands can feel like carpal tunnel sometimes.  If its nerve damage, where do I start to get it checked out? This does not occur often. Actually the last couple days has been the worst it's ever been. I would always ignore it before.

But yes, my hands and feet can feel cold at times and then at other times, they are very sweaty and I am embarassed to shake hands with people because of that.

Thanks for your help!

I get numb, tingling arms and legs too. Sometimes it's constant, sometimes comes and goes. That was one of my first symtoms when I started feeling worse back in May. My feet went numb every time I stood, but that is better. My hands get numb when I have my arms down at my sides, adn it can go up to the elbows. It used to really worry me, but I almost ignore it now.
in the land of Limbo, taking OTC meds only.
Don't know what's wrong, can't fix it, doctors are so sloooow!!!
