The doc referred me to the pain clinic.  It starts with a one hour fibro group information session, I think.  The doc said I would be going to an 8 week fibro program, but the person I talked to today says the program is for a year.  First I go to this meeting and then I schedule an appt. with the pain docs - one medical doc and one a pain psychologist.  They evaluate me and decide what level of care I need.  Oh, and I have to fill out paperwork they are sending me: questionnaires and such.
I am a little worried since my previous doc always thought I was malingering and my pain is not severe all the time like most of you.  I hope they take me seriously.  I'd like some help to manage the pain when it comes.  I also don't know if I can go for a year because of my school schedule.  I guess I will worry about that bridge when it comes!

pain is pain, I don't think you can compare yourself to others. I find that I complain too much sometimes too when I read about some of the others on here, but when the pain is there, for you, it is very real and needs to be addresed. I hope your meetings go well and that you get some relief and coping skills from them!
in the land of Limbo, taking OTC meds only.
Don't know what's wrong, can't fix it, doctors are so sloooow!!!

Sue, Mamanan is correct.  When the pain is on YOUR body, you need something.  I can usually manage my pain but there have been times where I longed for a little morphine!  shocked    I've managed to work through those times....so far.  That doesn't mean I will always be able to.  So, if you are hurting get the help you need.  This sounds very good!
