i currently take 10 mg. of kadian 2 times a day, xanax prn (allowed one .25 4/day), 10 mg lexapro and allowed five 7.5/750 hydros for bt.  i am scared to take more kadian, and don't want to up my dose of the morphine.  i have to take 2 of the hydros for bt, so i really only have 2 doses of bt meds/day; it's not enuff.  how do i approach this w/ my doc?  i'm not seeking and don't want to appear to be seeking.  any advice?  anyone have any suggestions for different bt meds?  is it advisable to ASK for something?

thanks so much!

I would not ask for anything.  That usually sends up a red flag for doctors these days.  Tell him/her what you just told us in the first half of your post.  Make a list of your symptoms and also explain how you are not getting the relief you need.  Ask if he/she has any suggestions as to what you could possibly do to get relief because you are in a lot of pain.  Then the ball is in the doctor's court.  They will probably suggest other medication to help you out.

I think Sherrine is right, but I do think it a shame that we are afraid to ask for stronger pain medications. They could possibly up your hydrocodone to norco for break through. It is 10 mg hydro and 325 of tylenol.

I wish you luck with this situation. I hope that your doctor helps you along.
