Hey On Line Family,
Malic Acid works for me!  I am now on them alone with occasional tylenol and antihistamine when I can't sleep. I have much less pain and more energy. It took a while to build up to four tablets a day as well as to wean off my other meds. But I'm over the hump now.
I didn't want to use my credit card on line so I mailed a check to the address on the Puritan Pride web site. I would encourage everyone to try this if you haven't already......Chuzzle

Hi Chuzzle,

I'm really thrilled for you!! It must be such a relief to be on so few meds.

If you don't mind, I would love to know what meds you were on, how you weaned off the meds, and how long you've been taking the supplements.

I've been taking Malic Acid since mid-August, but I also started taking Lyrica around the same time. Something's done some good, but I don't know which :) I would love to be off my fibro meds and am curious as to how you did it.

Thanks & hugs!

Chuzzle, this is great. I am waiting for my order to come in. It should be here any day. I would love to be off my meds but I don't think I could live without them. I would just like my muscles to feel better and I really need more energy. Any advice before I start?

It is so nice to hear about the success stories with the malic acid.  I am happy for all of you.

Meggie,
Just go slow in the beginning building up to four tablets a day.  That is about the only thing that you need to know.  Also to take calcium with them.  Citra-cal I believe is what is recommended.  I take calcium citrate which is the same thing.

Good luck to you.

Hi Guys......
I hope this answers your questions. I was taking xanax at night 0.25 1/2 tablet. Xanax proved to be a miracle drug for me. While taking it it was rare that I needed to take pain meds during the day...then excedrin or tylenol. I don't know why it had such a profound effect on me.
I've had Fibro since about 1994 and tried muscle relaxers, darvocet, hydrocodone and finally Neurontin. Neurontin worked great for about three days and then nothing.
I found out about xanax when my husband was in the hospital and I borrowed one of his pills. Who knew? It doesn't calm me down much but I can sleep and pain is manageable.
As some of you know I am looking for work and decided it wouldn't look good on the drug test to have xanax show up. Around here it has quite a name as a street drug. Anyway...I stopped the xanax on 8/12 and took one of the Neurontin I had left instead. It made me high as a kite for three days....then lost effect. But by that time I had increased the malic acid and magnesium suppliment to three a day.
I find I can sleep most nights...I take a calcium suppliment just before bedtime. If I need help then I pop an antihistamine. Most nights I don't need to.
I started out with just one malic acid, the next day I took two... one in the morning and one in the evening. I couldn't tell any difference and there was no diarrhea so the next day I took three.  I noticed on the malic acid thread that Sherrine took two in the morning and two in the evening so I tried four. I did find that taking them two at a time upset my stomach and as some have reported gave me the "toots" smhair   I am now taking three a day with food and no adverse effects. Maybe I stepped the dosage up too fast....I'll try again after a while to increase to four again. However, I don't think I'll take them two at a time again!
I feel better....my life is not any less stressful...so it must be the malic acid since that is all I'm taking.  I'm not normal, whatever that is, but the pain is at the same level it was with the xanax.
Hey....it doesn't cost much. It's worth a try. I know we are all different and have different medical problems to contend with. All I can say is that it is working for me and I intend to continue to take it as long as it works.
I hope this answers your questions.... A very grateful Chuzzle

Sera, all of the information is on the malic acid/magnesium thread.  I bumped it up again.  It is usually on the first page...at least I try to keep it there.

I always take it with food.  I take it in the morning right before I have my first mouthful of food and I take it at night, right after dinner.  I do it this way so it's about 12 hours apart.  This way I'm keeping it constantly in my system.
