When I was a kid, I read this book called "A Wind in the Door" by Madeline L'Engle. In the story, the main character's younger brother got very sick because his mitochondria weren't working correctly.

Then one time when I went to the doctor because I was really tired all the time, I asked him if there could be something wrong with my mitochondria. He laughed and said he didn't think so.

So then I found out about the malic acid acid supplements and read how a deficiency in it can interfere with the mitochondria's ability to produce energy. I just found that so funny, because it turns out that I may well have had something wrong with my mitochondria all this time. I suppose I can't blame the doctor I saw all those years ago, how could he have possibly known that a little kid would've been so right about what was going on?

Yeah I loved it too as a kid. Pretty much I loved words that most other kids didn't know, so I could use them and confuse everyone. I also loved paramecium and gigawatt. smilewinkgrin

Kythe,

Your post reminded me of a few things.  First, I used to love Madeline L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time." :-)   Next, the post  reminds me that even little kids are intuitive.  I always thought that there was something wrong with me, and I could never explain it.  So, I was dismissed and written off as crazy. rolleyes

LOL-as for favorite words, there are a plethora of them that I love (plethora being one of them, LOL). wink   But, I think my favorite word is one I learned while I was in vet tech school.  When I was working, I was the "lab nerd."  If there was bloodwork or a UA to be run, everyone gave them to me.  Anyway, when doing a urinalysis, I often got to use my favorite word-flocculent.  I'd give you the definition, but since you love words, I'll let you use your dictionary. smilewinkgrin

Oh yeah, "A Wrinkle in Time" is awesome! "A Wind in the Door" is the sequel to that(just in case you haven't heard of it before). BTW if you read "A Wind in the Door", you'll see where I got my screen name from. wink

Marlee, dear, I guess you didn't realize that I do comprehend linguistic forms as well as locution of utterances because I have been loquacious most of my life.  Now, stop being truculent!  devil

It's quite alright. The jocularity of this discourse is quite amusing to me. cool

Thanks, Kythe, for your understanding.  Marlee and I love to tease each other a lot.  And, she keeps leaving herself wide open for me.  I do think laughter helps everyone.
