Does anyone else having a popping or crunching sound when they turn their neck?  This just started a few weeks ago.  My neck has been killing me, but my doctor says my MRI doesn't show anything but mild to moderate disc bulging and that it shouldn't be causing me "that"
much pain.  Don't you just love it when your doctor tells you that you can't be in pain?  What a butthead!!! LOL

I Waterbaby,

You have just officially joined our 'snap crackle and pop' club. We had a thread on this about six months ago and realized that so many of us had that problem that we gave it the name 'snap crackle and pop club'. So join the crowd. Have you had an exray on your neck to rule out anything else? Dumb question, I just re read your post, you had an mri on it. So bear with me, it is early.

Most of us use those rice bags to give us relief on our necks. I hope that you can find something that works for you.

Best wishes to you, and I hope the pain in your neck quits giving you discomfort.

Luv and hugs, Karen

Yeah, I didn't really have neck pain until a couple of years ago, but now it is a constant companion.  I'm constantly finding new places to pop my neck that I didn't even realize were "popable"! It feels better for a few minutes until it needs to be popped again.

I pretty much seem to "pop" everything up and down my spine.  I even have to press on my ribs sometimes to try to get a good "pop" and relieve some of the pain/pressure.

Some mornings I sound like bubble-wrap.

I think it's cause our muscles are so tight. My neck is a mess but according to the CAT scan all I have is a little osteoarthritis. I turned my head to the left this morning and my left shoulder popped. tongue You think things might be a little too tight in there??? I could start a band with my body.

Does the doc that said you can't hurt believe in fibro??? Even if docs believe in fibro they can't understand what it is like living in a fibro body. But we all do. smilewinkgrin

I too am a member of the snap, crackle, pop club.  Wish I wasn't, but I have lots of good company here in the club house.  My noisy neck and spine are due to severe osteoarthritis.  You say that your doc told you that you have mild to moderate bulging disc?  What, does he really think that wouldn't cause some pain?  I've had 5 different doctors tell me that the tumors in my back don't hurt.  HuH?  It's my back, I should know if it hurts or not.  BTW, my pcp is not one of those.  If your doctor had a bulging disc, I wonder if he would believe it if you told him that it doesn't hurt.

Gentle hugs,

Everthing I 'own' that turns, moves, bends or SHOULD turn, move or bend, snaps and pops. My toes, ankles, knees, hips, back, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers. And when they aren't popping, they are locking. smhair   Sometimes, I don't know which one hurts more. The popping or the locking. My pcp said I don't think the prob is that bad, then we got some x-rays back. All the spots checked had severe OA, what a surprise!! NOT. If I don't work out the 'lock', I'm afraid the bone will snap. I have lost my balance many times due to this in my lower body.

I can't turn my neck very far at all. I back into my driveway, and to do that I have every mirror set in a special position. I hate the idea of backing out onto the road. That scares me!!

God bless.  Alice.

Me too! I have OA, bulging discs in C4-6, bone spurs, straightening of the curve & stenosis. I hate the grinding. It's like someone grinding their teeth. My muscles are so tight that one time my PT was trying to loosen them and wound up popping his finger so bad I thought he broke it! He was in pain.

That's me, snap, crackle and pop.  My doctor also told me that there was nothing wrong with me.  I wish they could live inside our bodies for just one day, then they would be singing a different tune. Anyway, welcome to our band turn .
