To anyone who can help or suggest another place to look, I'd be so grateful.

I have had fibro for 4 years now and all the GP's I've seen are useless.. take endep and do exercise is all they say. They won't even prescribe me something for the pain. Its so bad and I have no quality of life. I am a single mother with 3 children, 9,7,6 and I can't live like this anymore. I swear if I didn't have them to think about I would have tried to commit suicide. I come out of the doctors surgery in tears every time so hopeful of help but those hopes get dashed everytime. Please if you know someone who is fibro friendly please contact me.

hi there, I live in perth also.  I think im the only one. I reached the stage of suicide 2 years ago but then got a referal to a speciallist his name is Dr Will in vic  park.  He is a pain specialist and he put me on a norspan patch and the pain eased so much that I was able to get my life back again, though it is always with me. My doc barely acknowledges with me and only treats me because the specialist has okay it.  He treats me quite badly .  Dr Rob Will is a pain specialist who specialised in rheumatolgy and his clinic acknowledges fibro/

If you tell him how bad it is and the struggle you have with looking after the kids ect and mention that you heard  a norspan patch can help in some cases and could you please try, as you are suicidal and dont know where else to go.  You have to play games with these people, tell him your at wits end.  Im sure he will help you.  Ask your doc for a muscle relaxant in mean time.  keep me updated, hope it goes well.   see ya     sue2z :-) :-) :-)

me again sue,  I see Dr will in few weeks if I can get my courage up I will mention you to him and tell him your circumstances the same as mine.  He is a scary doc but not so bad when you get to know him but it took me ages to relax with him.  Any doc should give referal and your doc should give you tramal and muscle relaxant while you are waiting.  sue2z turn turn turn

Thanks so much Sue2Z :) I think I'll try that, I've asked for referrals to a pain clinic and always come out empty handed. Doctors won't give me ANYTHING for the pain. No muscle relaxants, I've had a total of one prescription for panadeine forte. Thats it!. I've asked for tramal and always get told no. I end up self medicating with nurofen plus, aspalgin, and normal panadeine. I am worried I will blow out my kidneys/liver with them all. I can't stay awake during the day, and can't sleep at night. I've had periods of remission but those days seem so long ago now. I've found a lovely man who wants to marry me but I have fears of becoming a huge burden on him especially with the three kids for him to deal with as well. I saw a GP two days ago and asked for some pain relief and ended up crying about how bad it is. And now, all I came out with, was a referral to see a Psychologist.. and that is going to take 3 months at least on a waiting list. It just seems so hopeless. I feel like I'll be useless and in pain forever and why won't anyone help me?

Coralie

*In case you haven't noticed, I am fairly depressed at the moment, pain will do that to you. I think my biggest problem is most of the time I just suck it up. Don't complain etc. So no-one really notices til I am at my wits end.

I cant help you with a doctor being as I live in ND. I did want to comment on this sentence though. If it were him with the disease would it matter to you. Another thing is something in the future could disable him. Would you love him any less then. Go with your heart my friend. Life is so unsure for all of us.

Fibrofella,

I'm also in Melbourne but am coming to Perth in April with mum for a holiday. I've found NO help in Melbourne and Dr. Geoffrey Littlejohn is no longer taking new patients "of any description". Could you please tell me which support group you're a part of in Melbourne?? I'm in shocking pain daily and just want to discuss it all with people experiencing the same thing, just in case they know something I don't. I'm 23 and am having to consider working part-time as my full-time hours are just too difficult at the moment.

Hi I live in Perth Western Australia 6064.
I have had this condition for ever it seems like, I too was desperate at one time in the early days. But I am looked after
well through Shenton Park Rehab hospital my Dr sent me there many years ago as it comes under the heading of a Rheumatologist
and it is the best thing I ever did they tale care of 99% of my health these day but I do see a Dr called Richard Bestead he is in Kingway health
centre, SHenton park have a pain clinic and psychologists and every other type if help you could want.
I know this is years late. I hope you are either better or are getting the help which we all need with this lousy disease.
There are allot of people in the same boat. I have just joined because I saw your post as I was doing some research for a friend.
Pleas get back to me if you can I will monitor for your reply. As for getting married go for it if he is with you he will understand and hopefully stand
by you,
Kind Regards Pandorasbox2008

Hi, I live in Queensland and have been where you are now, I had no one to talk too when I first became ill. So I know talking to others who suffer is a must on one else can understand what we go through.
I would be more then happy for you to eamil me or become a facebook friend I belong to several groups based here in Australia and some times having others who understand the way our health care works can be a big help I am waiting to see another Rumy early next year, my problem is allergies to most pain killers so I need to see if he cah help me at all.
