Eyes, it sounds like you have a very good doctor! That's exactly what they have to do...rule out other illnesses first. You see, fibromyalgia mimics other illnesses, like lupus, MS, etc. So, those need to be ruled out first. Once they are ruled out, you are usually diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Go to the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum, and click on the link entitled "What Else Can It Be?" Then, you will understand why this doctor is doing what he is doing.
So many mambers have gone to doctors and they just fluff them off...like it's all in our heads. Kind of what your husband did on the phone. So, you are fortunate that you have a doctor that is listening to you. Did you know there are rheumatologists out there that do not believe in fibro? So, I think you found a good doctor in your primary care doc. I have an Internist that I see. I do not see a rheumatologist. My Internist can handle my problems just as easily.
So, this is good news! Be sure to let us know the results of the tests. We really do care!
By the way, many of us have thyroid problems so that's good he checked for that, too.
