Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in awhile as I have been busy having more testing done.  When I started taking Lyrica I developed tingling in the left side of my face so they took me off of it.  Unfortunately the tingle/numbness didn't stop.  After an EMG, Carotid Ultrasound, MRI and Lumbar Puncture, I am now awaiting to hear if I do or don't have MS!  My GP and Neuro doctors agree that I definetly have the fibro but that I might have MS as well.  I would like to know if anyone out there has had the tingle/numbness sensation in the face, tongue, lips and other areas in the mouth with fibro?  I am still holding out possibility that this is from the fibro and not MS.  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks

Cindy

Cindy, I occasionally will have some numbness of my chin and bottom lip.  That's about it.  It usually will last a few hours and then it may be months before it happens again.

When my symptoms first started, it was mild fatigue and some achiness in the legs. Then I developed facial pain, and numbness and tingling in my left foot, as well as the left side of my face and lips. This prompted me to go to the doctor. I had reduced feeling in my cheek and down my neck for about 2 months, with my lips and tongue tingling sometimes. That has now gone away. I was very concerned about MS too, as it runs in my family. The doctor was also concerned about my hyper reflexes, but since these are bilateral, adn all my other neurological testing seems fine, he has held off on an MRI. My symptoms now are so consistent with fibro, I really doubt MS now. Hopefully this wil be the same in your case! When do you expect to hear the results? Good luck.
in the land of Limbo, taking OTC meds (which don't work).  Started at 5mg of amitriptyline.
Waiting for referral to rheumy to get a dx. waiting, waiting, waiting....

Hi Mamanan and Sherrine,

Thank you both for the replies.  My appointment to find out is Monday at 3:00.  I will keep you both posted.  There were two spots on my MRI of the brain that the radiologist read as suspicious for demylenation.  It didn't say it was lesions.  The neurologist has told me that if it is MS it looks (for now at least) to be mild.  We will see what the lumbar puncture says.

Thanks again for the replies.

Cindy
