Paying bills is not a favorite pasttime for me so I usually set aside a day to do that.  Well, I started paying bills and saw that I was running low in funds in my regular checkbook.  I got out another checkbook that is attached to stocks that I own, and I wrote my self a check that I would deposit the next day.  I endorsed the check, filled out the deposit slip and put it in my purse.  I then posted the deposit in my regular checkbook and continued writing checks.  When I was through, I mailed my payments by putting them in my mailbox...right before the mailman came.

Yesterday, I decided to clean out my wallet.  While throwing out receipts for the grocery, etc., I came across a very large check...the check I should have deposited on September 2nd!   smhair   I have NEVER forgotten to deposit a check!  My heart went up in my throat and my knees got weak thinking aobut the bounced checks and the bounced check fees.  I called my daughter nearly in tears but she reminded me that I keep extra money in the back of my checkbook for emergencies.  I had forgotten about that too! shakehead    I had plenty of money to cover what I had written!  yeah
Guess where I went first thing this morning?  tongue

I have been in a flare because of the weather.  When I'm in a flare, the fibro fog is worse.  I found my garlic powder in the refrigerator the other day...after I tore apart my spice cabinet and pantry!  Got to keep a sense of humor with this illness!  turn

yikes!! I can imagine how you must have panicked. Glad you got it sorted out though. Your weather should be gettign better soon? Hopefully so will your flare.

My latest, and probably the worst of my fog moments, I forgot how to work the controls in the car. When dh had his car, it was a stick shift, so I always drove the van. But now that we got the other car this summer, I rotate driving it too. The gear shift is in different spots, but after reaching for something that isn't there once, you usually figure it out, right? Not the other day. I was coming out of the parking lot after work, and it was raining. I had to park the car, then go through the turn signals, high beams, washer fluid, before I finally figured out how to use the wipers again! I used to have such a good memory. Now when dh tells me somethign to remind him of, I tell him he better write it down and not to count on me anymore.

Wow Sherrine,

I thought I was the only person who did stuff like that.LOL...

My fibro has been in an uproar lately and so has my mind. I can just imagine how you are feeling. Now that you got your checkbook straightened out, take a break.

Oh my gosh, I have done the very same thing.  With me, I transferred money from savings to checking to pay a large bill.  I use Quicken, and I transferred it on the computer, but I forgot to go online and actually transfer it at the bank.  Fortunately, I also keep some extra money (hidden) in my checking account for just such an occasion! devil

I never would have made such a mistake a few years ago either, but now my memory can sometimes be that of a goldfish!

Oh, by the way, the fridge has become my new secret hiding place too.  If I lose something, that is the first place I look.  smilewinkgrin

That would have had me in a panic too Sherrine.

Fortunately, about everything that goes into my account is direct deposit. I stopped balancing a checkbook long ago. I look online and make sure nothing looks suspicious but I don't keep slips when I use my debit card so I don't know what's in and what's not. I keep a cushion too but I have no idea how much. I use to balance my checkbook down to the penny.

I use to be a perfectionist and now I feel good that I'm functioning. tongue Maybe functioning is too strong a word.

Momanan, it is sad when you sit there and have totally forgotten how something works. I was going to change the cds in the car the other day and forgot how to do it. I can put seven in at a time and had to search for the load and reject buttons. All that stuff use to scare me but I take it in stride now.

I'll never forget the time my son walked in the front door to see me staring at the vacuum in my hand.

He smiles and says "Forgot how to turn it on, huh? Maybe you should use it more often!"

Guess who did the vacuuming on that particular day? smilewinkgrin

Fibro Fog, I have been in a fog for days now.  Just yesterday morning, I left the house with my lovely daughters.  I was bringing them to school and then head off to work.  Well I was talking and not paying any attention to what I was doing and turned down the highway to go to work.  You would think one of my girls would have mentioned that I was forgetting to bring them to school, NO, they let me continue until I realized what I was forgetting.  I turned around and headed to their school.  I asked them why they didn't tell me I forgot to drop them off at school and their response was "We didn't want to go to school anyway".  I think they are taking advantage of my fog turn

Last April I got hit by another car. I showed the policeman my driver's license, car insurance and vehicle registration. In May I noticed that my tags on my license plate was missing. Boy did I get mad that someone had the nerve to steal it. Well I went down to DMV to get the tags replaced because they got stolen when the lady said........You haven't paid for them yet. blush This is the kicker........they were due in March and I gave the cop a my expired registration.........he didn't even notice it either........so maybe he had fibro too.

Have a great day everyone..........

I'm beginning to feel competent compared to the rest of you. devil However, my DH does some of the same things we do and he doesn't have fibro. He usually just has too much on his mind as I'm sure a lot of you with children and jobs do. Sherrine, well she is getting old. turn

Well, since the rest of you have "fessed up", I have to tell you what I did apparently back in July while I was out of school.

My dh keeps emergency cash in the refrigerator freezer and puts various seeds on top of them.  I was cleaning out the freezer this summer and saw the seeds that I realized had been there a long time and tossed the whole mess out.

Two weeks ago he was going to put some more cash in his envelope and it was completely missing.  We both panicked at first thinking someone had stolen it.  Then I remembered throwing the seeds out and so I had thown $800.00 in cash away with the seeds.  I've been so depressed ever since.

I felt so bad about myself, that my dh didn't say a thing about me doing something that crazy.  I'm so sick and I can't get over it.  I know there's not a thing we can do about it, but I sure could have used the extra money especially when they say gas prices are going to triple in the next few weeks.

I have thrown checks away before and had to have them re-issued but never have I done anything as crazy as this one.  I'm worried that I'm going to loose my mind completely.  I used to think I had alzheimers.  I might be getting it because I've had three aunts that died with it and the dr. said my mother is starting to get dimentia.

When I first read this forum about Fibrofog I felt much better that maybe I wouldn't loose my mind completely, but now I don't know if maybe I have more than fog.

Sherrine, I'm so glad that you started this thread.  Don't ever think your the only one that does things like that.  It feels good to get this off my chest.  My dh didn't want me to tell family or friends around us how crazy I was or that we kept cash in the house.

Once again, I'm so glad I found you all.  Your so dear to me.

God Bless!
Shannon

Yesterday, I was cleaning the house (yay for me!) and I was getting ready to vacuum, but I was doing something else as well, though I can't remember what. Anyways. I was getting ready to do that, and I stood in the middle of the room for like five minutes before I remembered what it was I was going to do.

I'll be having conversations with my hubby, and right in the middle of a sentence, I will completely forget what I was talking about!

I feel like Dory on Finding Nemo sometimes. My husband and I will joke around about it, like saying, "Can I help you?" after staring blankly into space for a few minutes. LOL. It's nice that I have an understanding husband who can help me make a joke out of my forgetfullness...

Oh Shannon I'm so sorry!!! I would be upset over that too. Do you know where they take your trash??? I stick cash in the freezer myself. I'm glad your DH was not upset with you.

My DH used to carry large amounts of cash on vacations before they had debit cards and he wouldn't get travel checks. We were in Arizona and left the motel room and drove for awhile and stopped for gas when he realized he had left $5000.00 under the mattress at the motel. We flew back to the motel and fortunately they had not cleaned the room and it was still there. Yes, we started getting travel checks after that. This is years ago and he was still fairly young so it can happen, we just got lucky.

Hopefully, someone that needed it worse than you might have found it.
