I know I keep asking if anyone has this or does anyone experience that, but since I'm undiagnosed -I'm trying to do some figuring.
Do any of you get stabbing or sharp pains in your head? I get them in various places normally on one side or the other.
One more thing while I'm posting - anyone feel like their jaw can't open all the way and hurts a little when you try? and crackles? Is that TMJ?
Thanks for being patient with me while I figure this all out.

Pam

by the way - it's a dreary, drizzly day in south jersey. I'm going home from work and heating up 2 rice packs - ordering some wonton soup and snuggle with my daughter and new little lovebird to watch a movie! tongue

Booboos, I get shooting pain in my head from the muscles in my neck. I also get tender spots all over my head like someone has tapped me with a hammer.

I don't have TMJ or the cracking in the jaws.

That is how we learn about this DD is to ask questions.

luv and hugs

Pam,
I have pretty bad TMJ, and my jaw crackles, pops, and sometimes feels "stuck".  I get pain in the TM joint (near my ear).  It radiates down into my jaw and teeth, and all of the muscles will spasm from my shoulder up to the top of my head.  It happens on both sides (usually not at the same time).

I also have all kinds of spasms and pains in my neck shoulders and head (and just about every where else). smhair

Hope you had a restful evening.  Nothing like a good snuggle with your daughter.  I have a precious daughter too, and she is what keeps me going.  :-) - Austen

Well on occasion I get what is called icepick headaches. It's a sudden severe pain in one spot on my head that is bad enough to stop me in my tracks and I can't do anything but ride it out. Good thing these headaches usually only last about 10 seconds and I'm so glad it's only happened to me a handful of times. I'm so glad it's never happened while driving because that could be very dangerous. It's not always in the same spot but always seems to happen on the left side of the head.

I also often get very severe throbbing pain in my left temple and that can last for hours on end. I was told that this might be an atypical migraine, but it's often hard to tell the difference between sinus pain and migraines due to the fact that they both effect the same nerves and migraines can be triggered by things that would cause sinus pain.

I wondered what the connection between migraine and sinus were. Thank you Kythe for writing that. I noticed when I would wood burn, I would get more migraines. I think it was from breathing the smoke from wood burning.

Have a wonderful day,

Hugs, Karen...

I get the crackling and everything. I was diagnosed with TMJ a long time ago because I chewed WAY too much gum. LOL. But you can have both TMJ and Fibro. I get shooting headaches that are sometimes so debilitating (sp?) that I have to curl up in my bedroom with all the lights off, not sound whatsoever and just try to sleep until the pain goes away.

Kythe - you hit the nail on the head(so to speak) it's just like an ice pick and only lasts a few seconds. I do also have sinus problems occasionally and migraines - but the migraines are very different (aura and then headache for a few days).

It's really funny, the first time I ever had an icepick headache, it was a long time ago when I was watching Phenomenon in the theater. It happened shortly after they found out the guy had a brain tumor, so I assumed it was psychosomatic, but then it happened a few more times over the years.
