I read an internet article the other day about antidepressants and the loss of libido.  I thought that you might find this interesting especially after we had a thread on our sexlives and how hard it is sometimes.

I found out that they were giving women viagra now if the antidepressants effected the libido.  Being that a lot of us have to take antidepressants with fibromyalgia, I thought some of you ladies would find this interesting.

My doctor gave me some cialis samples when I was in last.  Believe me, I was embarrassed, but it was truly worth it.  These are good for three days and boy do they work.  Ladies this will knock your socks off!

So I thought that I would share this with you.  In hopes that some of you will try this.  I think we deserve a little pleasure in our lives and this really did bring me pleasure, if you know what I mean.

I hope that this is helpful to some of you.  It sure helped me.  And even with the embarrassment of asking for the samples, it was well worth it.

Have a great day,
Karen...

I've been on antidepressants off and on since I was 15 years old.  I've been on Zoloft for almost 5 years straight.  Without getting too "detailed," I have NEVER had a problem with my libido.  Anyway, MY problems are with pain-my joints, hips, back, etc. sad

Karen (gb), you are absolutely right.  We all need a little enjoyment in our lives (and yes, I know what you mean, LOL) wink .  My physical therapist even recommended sex as a way to loosen up painful muscles.  LOL-I am more than willing to try this to see if it helps. tongue

Anyway, I'm very happy that you got your socks knocked off! yeah   I think as women, we don't feel like we can talk about sex as openly as men.  But, I've never been one to not say what I want to.  LOL, I just have to learn that I need to censor myself better! smilewinkgrin

FINALLY dxd on 06/13/08
Vicodin, Neurontin, Ibuprofen for pain-which doesn't help, BTW
Zoloft & methadone (NOT for pain) for sanity-which doesn't help, BTW
Klonopin for anxiety (Guess what?  Doesn't help!)
Chantix to try to quit smoking (started 08/20/08)

Kelly,

You do just fine, but I don't know how much deleting you do with what you say. I only see the final post.LOL...

Thanks for responding, I thought that this would cheer some of us up. I know that we all want to be happy, and have some pleasure, and yes it is hard for us to express what we want to say when it comes to sex. You don't know how many times I rewrote this post and then almost didn't submit it.

Have a wonderful day my friend,
hugs, Karen...

Here comes old stick in the mud Sherrine.  This drug was not designed for use by women.  I checked out the National Institute of Health and the Physician Desk Reference and both say that women should not use this.  I think it is partly because no testing has been done if a woman takes it and then gets pregnant and, we all know, there have been plenty of surprise pregnancies.  I know I personally wouldn't take something like this.

Here are the links.  You have to be so careful about medications and some herbs when using this product.

Karen (gb),

Yes, I'm responding to ANOTHER one of your posts, LOL. tongue

OK, first of all, I am a "tell it like it is," kind of girl.  Personally, I have never had a problem talking about sex-or anything for that matter.  I think relationships would have a much better success rate if partners would just be honest and tell each other what they want and/or need from one another.  Of course, you are hearing this from a single, never been married, too scared of relationships (long story), woman. rolleyes LOL

Anyway, I'm glad you got brave and submitted this post.  If more people would just relax and not think that sex is something that is a "taboo" subject, then maybe the world would be a lot happier.  Also, in anything we talk about, honesty is always the key.  That's just my opinion, BTW.

Oh, and Karen, if I really said the things I want to say, not only would you probably blush blush , I'd definitely get banned!  BTW-if you ever want to talk about this or anything else more openly, feel free to email me.  You know how much I love to talk, and I'll always answer your email ASAP! :-)

Thanks Kelly,

I just might take you up on that. I love to email. I guess I like to type, but have always been one to write letters and stuff. And it is a nice way to make friends. With winter coming I am on the computer a lot. With all the snow we get, I become home bound. So you will probably be hearing from me soon.

Have a wonderful day.

Luv and hugs, Karen...

Well my libido has always been pretty low. It was low when I used to take psychiatric medication and it's still low now that I've been off that stuff for over a year.

I highly doubt I'll be taking anything to try increase my libido though. I'm probably the only person in the world that's actually content to have a low libido.

Every since I've been on antidepressents the big "O" has been missing from my sex life. They really effect me.
bulging discs in neck & thoracic region, low back pain, arthritis in lumbar region, diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety,
meds: enjuvia, pristiq, actos, amaryl, lyrica, hyzaar, elavil
