Guess what I just did?  Go ahead, guess!

I just finished 30 minutes aerobics shocked And I'm not falling down exhausted, legs burning!  I mean, I'm tired, but it's a good tired.  I feel normal!

Ok, it might be too early to really tell, maybe I'm having a good day, or whatever, but I think it's because of the malic acid.  Last week I was doing 20 minutes, and my legs were burning the whole time, I really had to push myself to keep moving.  Today I think I could have gone a little longer, but I didn't want to push it.  I've been at 3 tablets since Saturday.  Sunday I had a really bad day, my pain was higher than it had been in a long time.  It was rainign that day, and I also didn't move at all.  I drove 1/2 hour to town to go to a wedding shower where I sat for 3 hours, then drove back.  Yesterday I did groceries, so another drive.  My legs were sore adn achy during the driving, but that was all I had all day.

If you haven't tried the malic acid yet, I urge you to try it!  I don't know if it really works that well, or it's a coincidence (the weather is cooler so I think that is helping me too), or Sherrine has us under a mass hysteria spell, but right now I'm not willing to mess with anything or do any changes.  Except maybe go off my amitriptyline.  I think it helped me with the facial pain, but it woudl be worth the experiment to see if it comes back without it.  I'll mention it to my doctor when I see him again.  I'd love to be just on supplements, with maybe something for breakthrough pain if I need it, a kind of safety net.

(((HUGS))) to all my friends.  I wish for you a good day, filled with little pleasures.
in the land of Limbo, taking OTC meds (which don't work).  Started at 5mg of amitriptyline.
Waiting for referral to rheumy to get a dx. waiting, waiting, waiting....

Congratulations to you Mamanan,

I am so happy that the malic is working for you. You deserve this. I am also happy that you are able to do the aerobics. Just be careful and pace your self. It sounds like you already are. I am just so happy for you. Isn't it nice to find something that helps?

Best wishes for a lovely day.

Hi Mamanan-
Wouldn't that be great if the malic acid is working for you!!? It is something I would like to try. I get more pain too when it is raining or storming. This last weekend it rained the whole time and had more pain. Rest of the week is supposed to be mild and sunny. Woo-hoo! GamJill

Mamanan....look into my eyes.... shocked ...Hehehe.    I'm thrilled that it is working for you!  The moving you are doing is helping a lot, too.  I have had good success on it since last December.  I was barely using any medication once it got in my system but then my bad period here in Florida arrived.  It rains nearly every day here in the summer and the heat and humidity affect me too, so I am taking more meds right now but I know the malic acid/magnesium is still helping me because last year at this time, I could barely walk or get out of a chair and was taking more pain meds than I am now.  So, even in the bad times  you should see a difference!

Again, I'm sooo happy for you!  yeah

That is Great News!  I for the first time (been taking the supplements for about a week) think I felt more energy and it was during my workout.  I do 30 minutes on the treadmill and 10 to 15 on another machine, can't spell it so I'm not even going to try.  My muscles did hurt but I had more energy and felt like I could have gone longer but I had to leave for another commitment.  Also, I still feel pretty good.  I definitly need to do some stretches because I feel tight but I don't feel like I need to crawl into bed and that is usually how I feel.  So hopefully things are starting to work for me too  :-) .

I hope you have continued success and to Hope, good luck on the supplements.

Meggie, I'm glad that you are starting to see some improvement.  It didn't happen overnight for me either.  I still have pain but not like I used to.  I'll take it!

Waterbaby, if you ordered from Puritan, they will be there anyday now.  They are really quick to get things to you.  I will be praying that they work for you too.

Thank you Sherrine.  Another thing that I noticed today.  I was, still am, having a fibro fog day but I have caught just about every silly thing that I did.  For instance, I almost sent one of my girls a jar of grape jelly for lunch instead of her lunch (On another day the jelly would have went to school).  My whole morning was like this shocked . I have had little sleep for the past few days, I have a sick child and her coughing all night has kept me (and her) up.  So considering how I should be, I think I'm doing pretty good.  Oh, I did forget to pack myself socks to work out in so I had to use my dress socks, I looked pretty silly but I don't care.  I do my workouts in a university gym, with all the cute little girls and their tiny outfits.  I doubt any looks came my way turn .

Marlee, you could um, you know, do a malic acid enema (or something like that). It would get into your system. At least on CSI (I know, real scientific, huh?) a woman was taking coke or something that way. Who k nows, might be worth checking out

Congrats to both of you having good success with the malic acid. I've been seriously contemplating adding that to my regimen and the more positive things I hear about it the more that my interest grows. It'd be nice to be able to come off the narcotics again just so that I don't have to deal with the stupid rules of PM. Some days when I go in I just don't feel like peeing in the cup. I know the rules are there for a reason, cause someone decided to abuse them. But that doesn't mean that I have to like it. Just the same as I don't have to like the fat that there's stupid rules for things like blowdryers that say "Do not use while sleeping.' And my other favorite...."Do not use while in shower"

Just because people are foolish enough or mean enough to do these dumb things, we get stuck with all the consequences.

But again...congrats, and I wish you continued success and improvement.

Julia, go to the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum and you will find a link for malic acid/magnesium supplements.  It's all explained there.  The Fibro 101 thread is very helpful and that's why we always direct newbies there.  Read all about it and see what you think.  It's helped me!

Hey,

I a so happy that you are able to exercise. I started 2 1/2 years ago and I love it.

I hope the malic acid continues to work for you. I use something stronger to swim.

Apples are very high in malic acid so make them the fruit of choice when you're shopping. The highest concentration is in the skins.

Meggie...if the machine you wre exercising on is an elliptical, it is VERY important to stretch when you are done. Of course, it's always good to stretch, but my Rheumy told me that the elliptical actually causes our hamstrings to tighten even moreso, which causes more back pain. Of course, I didn't buy it for a long time and now I am stretching my ham strings and I am noticing the difference. I don't do a lot. I use one of the exerbands. I lie on my back, loop the bank around my foot and bring my leg up as far as I can and hold it there with the band, stretching the back of my leg, counting to 30, rather slowly, then do the other leg and do this 3 or 4 times. Believe me, it helps

MT Lady, Thanks. Yes, the machine I use is elliptical. I do feel like I need to stretch a little more when I get off of it.

I haven't been exercising for the past week because I have been sick with a terrible cold. I plan to hit the gym after work today but I know that I will need to take it slow. I still feel weak from the cold but my legs are saying "GET MOVING".

I used to be in such good shape (before fibro). I was lean and flexible. Now, not so lean and not so flexible. I hate fibro! Sorry, I need to get that out.
