I was wondering if anyone has taken Lyrica, gained weight, then lost it while still taking Lyrica? I gained 30 pounds on top of the extra weight I already carried. I have reduced my lyrica from 450 mg/ day to 100/day, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I don't think I ate much differently than I always have when I started the Lyrica and in almost no time I had gained the weight. I've been trying to lose, but can only lose about 5 pounds and then it comes back. I really don't want to quit Lyrica because I sleep so much better( actually I sleep now), and it has helped my pain some. Just wondered if anyone had ideas? Diane

Hi Diane,

I guess I don't really have any great suggestions. I've carried extra weight all my life without any help from pills. I do remember when I was on Prednesone for a while that I put on weight. Most of it came off but I'm still fighting it. For me it's just a daily vigil to not gain. I hope someone else has some great ideas and hope for your fight.

I think it is a daily vigil also.

I am on Lyrica and have not gained weight. I have to credit my swimming regime. I am in the pool for 2 hors per day every day. I only take days off when I have other appointments and obligations.

I found out that exercise is a daily priority for me. I gained over 100 pounds within about 1 year due to being mostly bed ridden. I cannot go back to that. I have to exercise.

I gained some weight on Lyrica, went on Carb diet and lost 10 pounds in month and a half. It is possible and for some reason the carb diet worked out for me.

I have gained 17 pounds on Lyrica and lost about 6 while trying to lose. So far so good.

When I got the relief from the medication I started to eat and eat. Now I take notice of what happened and I am trying to lose by thinking about what I am eating. Still not being strict enough, but I am going to get this weight off, I swear I am. I was already way too heavy to begin with. I'm having heart palpitations now and I've got to get more serious about taking the weight off.

The Lyrica has been a Godsend to me, though. Before, the pain was just awful, even with the Percocet every four hours. Now, I have moments when I am actually pain free. Yahoo for me!!!

Keep trying to lose the weight and I will do the same. There has got to be a way for us Lyrica users!!

I haven't gained any weight since taking Lyrica, but I certainly can't loose anything.  I've fought weight problems since I was a teenager, but the older I get the harder it is.  Of course I don't take a big doseage of it and I'm thinking about going back to 800 mg. of ibuprophen three times a day that my orthopedic dr. prescribed before I went to my rheumy.
That's what I was on before I started taking Lyrica, but I still couldn't sleep.  Since taking the Lyrica, my pain is about the same, but I do sleep better.
God Bless!
Of all the things that I have lost, I miss my mind the most!!!!
