Hi all

I have my first appointment today with the rheumotoligist.  Any certian things I should ask??  Any certian things I should tell him?  Have not been diagnosed yet...I have a list of my symptoms that I am taking.  Is there anything else I should be telling him?  Any tests I should ask for??

Meg, I'm sure you have confidence in the doctor you chose and I hope you end up with a great doctor!  But, I never go in and tell a doctor what to do.  I never ask for medication or certain tests.  I just tell the doctor how I am feeling, how it affects my day-to-day living, etc.  I leave the diagnosing and dispensing of meds to him/her.

Once I have a good relationship with my doctor, and if there is something I'm wondering about, then I will discuss that with him.  For example, I was questioning the possiblilty of vitamin deficiencies causing some of my problems.  When I did that, he ordered the blood work and found out I was deficient in Vitamin D.  So that's how I handle the doctors.

I hope this helps you.  Let us know how the visit goes!

Let him/her do what they do best, investigate and diagnose. You can suggest fibro as a possible cause of your problems but it could be one of several conditions that share symptoms. Fibro is usually diagnosed after MS, Lupus, Lyme and some other stuff is ruled out so be ready to give lots of blood when you get your labs. Also, ask that a copy of the lab work be sent to your home. There is often a space at the top of the page that says "Copy to _______" and if you put "patient" in that space you'll get a copy sent to you so you can be aware of your results.

i have an appointment with a new rhuemy thursday.. first time since i was diagnosed in 2oo1 can't wait been fighting with doctor for over 3 years to go because i know its getting worse.. my old doc retired and the new doc said np.. just get me the name of the doc and i will send referal.

I have a journal that i am taking with me even though not current of about a month of daily logs of how i felt what symptoms i had and if anything unusual happened..they may not look at it but its good to have... i also have a list of questions for her as well..

I want them to get the best possible idea of what i have been going through.. also make sure to tell them everything even though it may seem unimportant to you and let them do their job.

you have nothing to worry about as long as you are prepared
