Does anyone have ribcage pain...I mean the kind of pain that wraps around your whole ribcage..from front to the back.  If I press between my ribs anywhere on my ribcage..especially on the sides and in my back, it is very painful...I also cannot wear a bra..feels like a torture device!!!  I've tried everythoing..bigger bra, a bra extender..a very old and worn out bra..the tightness makes me crazy and I have to go and take it off...sometimes when the bra is loose..it's seems like the rubbing around my ribcage is the problem...between the pain in my spine and that..that seems to be the worse of my problems...I am on lyrica and cymbalta, but that hasn't helped my problem...it did get rid of the stabbing pains for the most part..It really is weird because about 10 days after my heart attack was when I started having problems with my bra being a torture devise..it was so painful, the dr. put me back in the hospital..we thought I was having chest pain, when I think that it was really my bra causing the problem..it was the same bra I had been wearing just before my heart attack!! Could the stress from my heart attack started all of this..I eventually, had other pains..stabbing, burning..but not the deep aching in my muscles like most people describe..after lots of tests and mri's the neuro told me it was fibro..I think he was at a loss and just told me I had fibro..does this sound like fibro to you..guess I've rambled enough...

Might be costochondritis. Type this word into the search box at the top of the page below the yellow stripe and you will have lots of people's input about this.

Grammiejean I have not had a heart attack to my knowledge but I have the same problem with bras. Doesn't matter how lose they are. The bad thing is when I take it off it still feels like it is around me. Is it costo or is it fibro, that is a question I ask myself all the time??? From what I have read costo should come and go cause it is an inflammation. I have rib pain constantly and have had for at least year now. Even my breast bone stays sore to the touch. Now the rib pain varies from day to day depending on what I have done to aggravate it but it is always there to some degree. So I don't know if it is fibro or costo. My whole upper body stays sore so I don't know why our ribs would be any different.

I only wear the torture device when I have to and only as long as I have to. Now that the weather is getting colder and I am wearing a jacket sometimes I don't wear one.

luv and hugs

My rib cage hurts all the time, too, and I take ibuprofen for it.  It never goes away but it's managable.  I assume it's costo.  I think my whole body is one inflammed blob.  They say that fibromyalgia isn't an inflammatory illness but you couldn't prove it by me.  If I don't take NSAIDS, I don't move.

last summer i went to the hospital thinking i was having a heart attack and it turned out to be costo, which was related to the fibro. SCARED me half to death. This is when they started looking into the possibility of fibro, and sure enough, they dx me in Dec of that year. I have the pain today, as it is damp, cool and rainy and it hit me this afternoon. Hot baths, moist heat really help.
Feel better soon
