I read somewhere here about vitamins, minerals and other supplements that can aid Fibro sufferers. I have looked but can't seem to find it. I did a search too, but to no avail. I am suffering terribly today and really don't have the patience to continue to search for what I"m looking for. I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me.  I'm taking a list of other meds for Bipolar, and am not taking anything for the Fibro except for advil and when the pain is really severe, I go to the ER and get demerol or morphine shots. I was wondering what other types of medications are available instead of the prescription kind??

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Lorraine, I use ibuprofen, Tylenol, and malic acid/magnesium supplements.  There is a link in the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum...all about the malic acid/magnesium supplements.  They don't work for everyone, but many members are having good success with them.

I take MSM and it seems to help. . . If you buy it order it in bulk and make your own capsules :) I worked my way up to 4-5grams a day. . .  Other than that I alternating heat and cold (more heat:). . . I also bought a 3inch memory foam topper for my bed and it seems to help. . . Good luck to you :)

Inositol is good for helping weather related pain. It is supposedly good for moods too. I have started it, but it's way too soon to know if it helps. L-Carnitine is good for sensitive skin. It also helps stave off shingles attacks.

I use the malic acid magnesium suppliments and would never go with out again. They work exceptionaly good for me . During a flare I take a percocet or a methadone as prescribedby my Dr. I don't find I need the meds unless I've over done my self. I haven't needed to fill my prescribtion since Aug. so that's proof enough for my Dr. that it works she was surpised, pleasently. Good  luck.

Hi :)

Just Google MSM pain management, and you will have enough material to keep your mind occupied for the next few weeks :)  MSM is Methylsulfonylmethane, and is not to be confused with normal sulfites, which many people are allergic to :)  Hope this helps you Lorraine :)

I also started taking the malic acid/magnesium combo, and it was a God send for me. I can have a normal life now! I'm just upset that I lost all of the summer to my aching and fatigue, but things are greatly improved now. Tylenol and Advil do nothing at all for me.
