I broke my foot August 16th/08.....I finally had the walking boot removed this past Monday. The foot is a little sore but nothing I can't handle. Yesterday, after suffering all week with severe muscle spasms from my neck to down under my rib cage, I was feeling a little better so I decided to drop in on my friend to have a coffee and a little chit chat. I approached her walk way and tripped, staggered forward and finally fell. When I got my bearings back, my nose was about an inch away from the concrete, and I was sprawled out the full length of myself. I immediately checked my newly healed foot for damage, and thankfully, it felt fine. I had a few minor scratches and bruises but other than that, I felt fine. I was very visibly shaken though. I got up, dusted myself off and proceeded to have a visit with my friend. We laughed and joked about the incident.
Well, this morning, I can barely move. I have spasms from my neck to my waist. There are no bruises, scratches or bumps, but oh boy, what pain I'm having. cry   Its going to be a long , uncomfortable day. I've taken advil, but have nothing stronger here and I can't go to the ER because my hubby has the car, and I don't have a ride. Guess I"ll have to wait until later this evening to get to the ER.
My momma said there'll be days like this..............but she didn't say how many!! eyes

Lorraine I'm so sorry. I can see why you would really be sore today. Have you tried hot baths??? I think I would be soaking in one all day after a fall like that. Moist heat of any kind should help some but your probably going to be sore for awhile from it. As sore as you are keep stretching the muscles or you might get worse.
I have only taken one bad fall so far since having fibro which left a dent in my head from hitting a dresser drawer. I've come real close many times. I can fall over a piece of lint on the floor.
Get better soon
luv and hugs

I'm sorry you had such a spill.  The first time I fell after having fibro, I fell in the driveway, face down, and broke my nose and severely injured one knee.  I could barely walk and had two black eyes to boot.  I just took ibuprofen and Tylenol for pain and hot showers and stretching and the muscles calmed down in a few days.  When you have a fall like that, you know you are going to hurt for days to come.  People without fibro would hurt with a fall like that, too.
I do hope you are feeling a little better though.  It sure isn't fun!

I hope that you feel better soon. I think we pull a lot of muscles when we fall, trying to acomodate for being off balance. I think that Marlee has a point with the baths and moist heat. I sure hope that you feel better soon.

Hugs, Karen

I'm so sorry you fell.  I fell a few months ago, and while I didn't really "hurt" myself, I had to lie on the couch for a couple of days to recover.  I'm not sure how much of the pain was due to fibro and how much was due to just being older. smilewinkgrin
It amazes me how a child can fall and just bounce right up like nothing happened!  Those days are long gone for me! shocked
