Does anyone here take zanaflex? I have tried to use it for the past 3 evenings but I feel out of it, loopy, drugged and groggy. Narcotic pain reliever never made me feel this bad.

Are these side effects supposed to go away?

Yes, I take it. I have to take it at night because it puts me to sleep if I sit down. I cannot stay awake and I cannot take it during the day. This is difficult because I have pain all the time. Plus I don 't even think the dose is enough because my muscles are still tense and painful even with the zanaflex. The doc gave me mobic and said I should replace my 800 mg of otc advil with it and it doesn't touch the pain.

I took zanaflex on and off for a couple of years. Originally, it made me groggy, then, it helped somewhat, then nothing. Another med which works best if a vacation from it is planned into treatment. Honestly, accidentally, I was prescribed valium to help me taper off of the Klonipin I had been taking but was afraid of due to dependency being a high risk, factor, and after a few days, taking it at bedtime I had less daily pain than I have had for decades. It was as good for the tense muscles and comcommitant pain as anything I've ever tried. Only problem is, my doc hesitates to prescribe much. At least I get some benefit from the nighttime dose.
