Thursdays at 5 I have a repetoire class. Its a class for all the voice and piano students and if we have something ready to be performed we get up on the stage and play or sing it for the rest of the students (about ten or so) and then we give each other feedback and advice or what to change when we give recital. I had two piano pieces ready. One was memorized and the other I was using music. I get really nervous doing this so I was practicing for a while beforehand. I could play both relatively well. about twenty minutes before class started I was in the piano lab with two of the other students. Jacob was playing some pep band music on a keyboard and Tom was playing something else on another keyboard and they were trying to mess each other up and I was trying to practice my piece. Suddenly it was like I had no idea what the heck I was playing and I started getting really confused. Jacob stopped playing and went back to whatever it was he was doing and Tom kept playing - I asked him to stop and tried to play my song and I just kept getting confused - and now I was all kinds of nervous and shaky. I finally got it together and played it. By that time we had to go into the recital hall for class.
My turn came up to play and I started playing my first song- horrible. Started over about five times - had no idea what I was doing. It was like I'd never played it before. I couldn't remember anything - this was the memorized one. So I just gave up and started my next one which I had the music for and I played okay - I messed up on a whole section because my fingers were in the wrong place but oh well. Then I started the first one over again and I played it fine - got my feedback - then promptly threw up.

about an hour before all this mess I had decided - yes I need a new doctor. What kind of doctor mentions nerve damage...then doesn't say anything else about it? I was too shocked and scared to really say anything after she posed the possibility that it could be the cause of the weird sensations I'm having in the feet and fingers. My fingers had gone tingling/numb around then and I had started to think about it and get a little scared and nervous.

It was a bad day - I knew those pieces and I messed them up so badly. I've never thrown up for any reason than being sick - it was weird. I felt the need to post about it on here for some reason...I need to get ready for class. Have a good day everybody.

Leeriesan, I missed this when you posted it. I'm glad you have decided to get a new doc. maybe they can sort out what is causing what. It could have been a combo of fibro fog and anxiety that caused you to forget. Have you tried any anti-anxiety meds???

It is so sad that someone with so much talent has to go through this so I hope a new doc can help.

luv and hugs

I used to be on anti anxiety meds - I can't remember right now why I stopped taking them - I think it was that I just felt so ... cloudy all the time - with school it was really difficult. But with all the meds I'm taking now I have that feeling tenfold so maybe I might as well be taking them again. I hardly remember my afternoon classes anymore since my doc upped my medicine and started me on Amrix - I either fall asleep around one o'clock or space out - I have no idea how I have the grades that I do...haha. Thanks for replying Marlee.

*hug*

I find if I'm more stressed out my fibro-fog gets worst and that I can get confused and not know what is going on. I'm also going to concider asking my doctor about anti-anxiety meds since I've been having problems with being overly anxious.

I'm taking Paxil at night to help with sleeping - but I don't think that's helping me during the day.

Ms. L- my heart goes out to you. I had to chuckle a bit, tho.... your story reminded me of a very similar situation years ago after finally being Dx. I totally support your decision to find another doc. If you don't have the time, I'll bet someone here can help you find a new doc who understands FM and cares about your well-being. I also agree it may be time to be back on anti anxiety meds. You are so talented and your gift needs to be able to shine. Go easy on yourself, you have unique challenges that must be addressed and accepted; you will oversome this early stage. It will get better for you as learn what tools help you take each day as it comes. Pay attention to your body, it is hollering at you to treat yourself kindly and not be so hard on your self. We care, and we are always here.
Peace!

Hi Leerie-

If you find a new Dr. maybe he/she can go over the medications you are on and make sure that is not what is causing some of your symptoms. It sounds like anxiety and fibro fog to me though. When I am anxious or upset I can't hold a thought. You started getting fearful of the tingling/numbness in your feet and fingers- and then nervous about doing the pieces.

Leerie, I get the numbness and tingling alot in my hands and feet. It is not a comfortable feeling but it is just a "symptom" and it will not hurt you. If your hands or feet get the numbness or tingling, rest them, even if it is just a short period. And if they are real bad and you want to go to that class you might not be able to that day. Especially if you feel you can't perform. I'm learning with fibro each day is different and take it one day at a time.

Hope your feeling better!

GamJill
