I was wondering if anyone else found crying excruciatingly painful...when I am no longer able to hold back and end up crying my sinuses instantly fill with what feels like massive pressure. I have to say it is a quick deterrent and usually ends my bouts of crying very quickly, even though it really makes me want to cry more from the pain. So yea, thats it..just wondering if anyone else has this issue and if maybe anyone has any suggestions about it. I plan to mention it to my doctor at my upcoming physical...not that I believe she will do anything about it.

Thanks in advance!
Yours Truly,

Erin Ann

Sounds like you have some blockage in your sinuses. Ouch! I know when I cry, my sinuses that don't seem to be bothering me are leaking all over the place. I hope you get to feeling beter, and nice to meet you ;)

I have just been having problems with my sinuses in general, waking up all stuffy and then it goes away.  But if I do cry man I get so stuffed I cant breath at all for hours and get a bad headache even if I only cried for a couple minutes.

A few years ago I was having a lot of sinus issues, my doctor at the time just kept giving me antibiotics everytime I complained about the pressure. I dont have him anymore thankfully, but I dont usually have too many sinus issues like I used to. It does seem as though my sinuses drain post nasally especially at night and I do occasionally have sinus headaches. I just know that instantly when I start crying my sinuses scream from the pressure..so maybe you are right and there is some sort of blockage. Would be nice if this is something that the Dr can actually make better lol.

I experienced the same thing the other day. I was having an emotional day after speaking with my doctor and while I was sitting in the car I started to cry. My sinuses also felt like they were under extreme pressure and after a bit the pain became a dull throbbing feeling.

Maybe it's the fibro... I never experienced this before I got sick.

Do you also get pain in your face and jaw on occation?

You might want to try something called a nasal rinse...either a spray that has salt water that you spray into your nostrils, or a Neti Pot. I bought mine over the internet. It takes a little getting use to, really no big deal, but boy, does it work well. It thoroughly rinses your sinuses and bathes them with salt water which helps to reduce any inflammation and washes away anything that might have gone up your nose to cause any irritations. It is really, really wonderful and not expensive.

Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, scoliosis, microdiskectomy C5/C6, bulging disks L3/L4, compressed nerve L5/S1, disc compression L5/S1, IBS, hypothyroidism (now FINALLY well controlled) Also angioplasty, and angiogram, high bp, well controlled, high chol, now normal, well controlled

Hmmmm........awhile back, whenever I cried, I couldn't swallow......the suction was too great. Found out it was a big cyst in my maxillary sinus, blocking anything trying to drain. I think a trip to an ENT might be in order.
