Do any of you experience inflammation with your fibro?   If so, is it during a flare-up?

My sed rate, c-reactive protein, and a recent d-Diner test done all show inflammation.

I saw my rheumy last Friday, and he doesn't think I have any arthritis, with the exception of my DDD in my back, which if I understand right, is osteoarthritis.

Anyway, he stated that some of his fibro patients had in fact reported inflammation.

Mine is in my ankles, my knees, my wrists, the back of my hands, my elbows, and in the clavical region of my neck.
He did a physical exam and said that the clavical swelling was not due to lymph node enlargement, however he did find an enlarged node under my left arm.

Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated!

I seem to have inflammation, too.  I have toes that swell and have fingers that are difficult to move but I take ibuprofen and that helps me a lot.  I have never been diagnosed with arthritis but I am getting to the age where some of that could be going on.

I have said before on this forum that I think they just might find out that fibromyalgia is an inflammatory problem, too.  Ibuprofen and Tylenol have helped more than they should have it this isn't inflammatory.  But it seems to me that they should be able to tell that.  Oh well....

Julie, it will be interesting when they get to the cause of fibro and what really goes on in our bodies. I do have osteoarthritis in my neck, lower back and hands. The hands are the worse and fibro amplifies the pain. I do feel there is inflammation going on when I flare. At least my body feels like it is fighting off something. I get a puffiness in my face, arms and legs.

Julie,

I have Osteoarthritis in my spine, but my hands, feet, & ankles do swell from time to time. In the mornings, I can hardly lift a glass because my hands are so swollen and hurting. I do believe the Fibro can cause inflammation & like Marlee, think it will be interesting in the coming years to see what they find out about Fibro.

Hugs!  Margie

Thank you for your insights. I have some more tests coming up to evaluate whether or not it's a systemic infection. We'll see, I guess, and I'll keep you posted.

I appreciate this online community - one of the things I'll be thankful for this Thanksgiving is technology that allows those of us that are frequently housebound to reach outside our walls to a safe and comforting place.
