Thanksgiving brought with it a four day weekend for me away from the hustle bustle of work and school...... I slowed down enough for Fibro to catch up to me. My days off are the worse for me. I must keep active to keep ahead of the pain, fatigue, and depression of fibro......

Not so much a question, just a thought I needed to express.

Jokat I understand what your saying. I kept going Wed thru Sat but after everyone left yesterday morning it all caught up with me. Is it adrenaline that keeps us going when we have to??? I can't say I wasn't in pain while everyone was here cause the weather change brought pain Sat but I kept going. I was trying to figure out Fri, I think it was, why I seem to have more energy when there is other people around than when it is just my DH and I. Granted I still went to bed around 10:00 at night but the grandchildren sounded like horses running through the house til they were put to bed.

Jokat, fibro caught up with me when I was carving the turkey...the last bit of "work" I needed to do.  I made it to the table but felt like a limp dishrag!  LOL  But now, we can get busy with the next holiday!

Isn't is weird how we can keep going and going and then when the holiday/event/important thing is over we just sink into a pile of pain? Marlee, I think you're on to something about the adrenalin. I believe it masks the pain response. I know when I was first in college and doing more walking than I'd ever done I used to sit down in a class and my legs and hips would just scream at me. I thought I was out of condition but after the third year of pain I just decided my body didn't like to move! tongue When I had young children I would run all day and then when I went to bed at night I'd be racked with pain, like I'd been saving it up! So very strange.

I hear you, I go through the same thing at work. I can feel horrible all day, but once I start to move at work, I don't think about it so much. I feel more motivated, and most of my pain leaves. Then when things slow down and I'm cleaning up, it all comes back with a vengeance. I think you are right about the adrenaline, Marlee. And that is why I strongly believe in exercise to help with fibro, I know I feel better when I move. So I'm very thankful that my job and my children force me to move.

Right now I'm trying to get motivated to go on that treadmill, even though I would much rather lay on the couch and have a little nap while dd does the same. But I've been feeling bad for a couple weeks now, I need to get over this hump and get back to where I was.

Jokat, I hope you feel better soon. And that the holidays made it all worth it?!
