I hurt my shoulder and heard it pop. Now I cant move my shoulder with out severe pain that goes into my arm too. How do you know if you dislocated your shoulder or not? I have no insurance and cant go to the dr's. Does anyone have any advice for me? I dont want to go to the er.

Do you have someone at home with you that could help you try to rotate your arm? If you do, they might be able to help hold your arm out and rotate and see if it will pop back into place. If you can't rotate your arm, you might have to go see a dr. or a chiropracter and have them put your arm back in the socket.

There are nerves there that can be damaged by being pinched off, so this is not something to play around with.

All I know about this subject is that when I was a teenager, my brother dislocated his shoulder body surfing and he SCREAMED all the way to the ER. I think it was worse than severe pain. Diane

You'd know for sure if you dislocated your shoulder.  The pain would be unbelievable all the time, even when you didn't try to move it.
I dislocated my elbow as a teenager and HOLY SMACKERS, I have never felt pain like that before.  I was vomitting, sweating, feeling faint.  I had to wear a cast for 2 weeks to let the tendons, ligaments and muscles heal.
You need medical attention if it's dislocated.  You'll need an arm brace for a few weeks.
