I have been staying in pretty much with the cold weather.  But last night I decided to go and visit a friend.  She only lives about a mile away so I figured "what can it hurt".

I swept off my truck and warmed it up good and went to visit for a couple of hours.

When I was leaving, it was pretty nasty and she told me to wam up the truck and come back in.  But I was too stubborn.  I decided since it wasn't very far, I could make it in a cold vehicle.  Boy was I wrong.

I got so cold that my muscles in my body all tensed up.  I could not relax for the life of me.  I stood by the stove at home with my warm coat on and gloves and still was cold.  I took a muscle relaxer to try to combat the tense muscles in my back and neck.

Finally my husband mentioned my bed buddy.  So I warmed it up in the microwave and placed it on my lower back by my kidneys and could feel the blood heating up and going through my body.  Then I put it around my neck and fell asleep in the reclyner.

That helped until the bed buddy cooled off.  So I heated it up again and did the same thing over, eventually I took it to bed with me.

This morning, I ache worse than I have for a long time.  I feel like I have been hit by a truck.  I am hopeing that this will subside throughout the day as I get moving around.  But it is pretty bad pain.

Has anybody else been through this with the cold?

Just wondering.

Luv and hugs, Karen

Yes...I get cold and can't warm up no matter what I do.  I live in central NY and it's cold 6 months out of the year.  Last night we went out for awhile...had the seat warmers on in the car...dressed in three  layers, and when I got home I stood in front of the wood stove for about 15 minutes, then finally went to bed with a down quilt and two other blankets.  I am still cold this morning.  My arms feel like they have been in the freezer.  So...you are not alone!

I was only out one time last week to take Krissy to vet, run some errands and do a little shopping. It was 8 degrees when I got up this morning. I'm having problems taking her out to go potty cause she won't go by herself and I freeze up out there in no time and that is what it feels like your muscles contract and freeze.

Karen my son has a remote control starter on his Tahoe so you can start it by pushing a button from inside the house. You might want to ask Santa for one. It's not a big deal for me to warm up my car in the garage before I go somewhere but if I stay in a store too long it is hard on me til it gets warmed up again. Today I can't even imagine being out there.

I hope the pain goes away soon.

The cold weather kills me. I am a smoker, though I want to quit. My husband and I don't smoke in the house because of our son, so we go outside or to my neighbor's house when she is home. But, for the most part, we are outside. Everytime I go outside to smoke, I feel like I have been locked in a meat freezer. I could be feeling fairly good in our nice warm house, and I bundle up to go outside and I instantly start to hurt. I know how you feel. I can't wait until spring when things start to get warm again. I can't stand the cold. And it really sucks, because I used to love playing in the snow and then coming back in the house and rinking a nice warm cup of cocoa.
I hope you start feeling better soon, sweetie. Just try to stay warm. Take a nice warm bath. I find that really helps when I am struck with pain due to cold weather. Hang in there. We are here for you.

*soft hugs*

I hate the cold, too.  That's why I moved to sunny Florida!  devil    (It's that time of year again, ladies!   turn  )  But, when I get that bone-chilling cold, I head for a hot shower and that makes me feel sooo much better.

I think part of the problem with the severe pain after being in the cold is that from your muscles contracting so hard its almost like you have been in an accident. You actually have pulled all those muscles and it takes time for them to heal. Pretty much every time I go out now my teeth chatter like crazy and I feel chilled to the bone. My actual skin feels like ice and takes forever to warm back up and I dont have a car so I am out in it every day ughhhhhhhh.

My grandma lives in Florida during the winter season. Sometimes she is able to fly us down there, which is so nice. But, otherwise, we are stuck in the cold. I always tell the mean people who brag about living in warm places that they should take their warm weather and shove it into a certain place, but I am not going to do that, because it really isn't nice, even if it is satisfying to say it.
Whenever I go outside, all my muscles, especially in my back, neck, and legs clench up and I feel like I have been hit by a train. It sucks. I come back into the warm house and it feels a little better, but it always takes me a long time to recover. I like it when my neighbor is home because then I can just walk across the hall to her place and smoke inside where I don't freeze my little butt off.

Alright ladies,

The fort is going up on the next nice day. I have a catapult that will send snowballs all the way to Florida. LOL...

Marlee, you are right, she is so mean sometimes. And the other members are starting to see that.rolf...

I hope that you all had a good day today. I am starting to feel better, but I can feel where my muscles got so tight from the cold. We talked about that remote car starter today. I think that we are going to get one. I am so excited. Also somebody on the site mentioned seat covers that you can get that you plug into your lighter and they warm up the seats. That would be awesome. Even with just the car starter.

Have a good one,

Hugs, Karen ...

Let me know when you get the fort up and running. LOL. I will send you some big snowballs to send down to Florida in a rain of vengence. LOL. Anyways. I wish that we could get a remote starter. I like my grandma's SUV because it has butt warmers. I love the butt warmers. LOL. They make me feel all toasty. LOL. Anyways. I hope it starts to warm up at least a little. I know that is wishful thinking, but, hey, I can dream. I just wish, at the very least, that it wouldn't snow. It makes me feel even colder and depressed.

Hi Karen-

Me and the cold did not get along before I got fibro, now we REALLY don't get along!! I was in so much pain for weeks when winter first hit here, it is a little better now. I am a smoker also, but only smoke in my laundry room in the basement with the door shut or stand by the back door with two feet on the first part of the deck and smoke a half cigarette because I get cold instantly! I can't keep going in the basement to smoke because the stairs are killer for me if I keep going up and down them. The upside to this is I don't smoke that much because it is too much work or I get too cold! My only saving grace is a hot bath if I can't warm up and that works for me.

LeeAnn,

I know how you feel. I am so cold all of the time. I hope to go Cross country skiing this year. It makes me warm. Then I can handle the winter.

We have gotten so much snow this year so far. Which I don't mind, but it has been cold too. Yuck...

I hope that you feel better soon.

Hugs, Karen

And yes, I am a smoker too. I am sure that doesn't help things at all.

We just got our gas bill and it was way high. I get so cold even in our house, that I am causing us to use more gas, making our bill higher. So now I have to find a way to not freeze while the house is at a normally comfortable 70 degrees.  I don't know why I get cold so easily but it is so hard to deal with.
