I dont have to think I already know sheeshhhhhhhh.  I am constantly stumbling or tripping or running into something.  One of my latest things is staying up to late and fighting sleep then ya know how you nod off and then startle awake and it makes your head snap back up?  well for me I just have to take it that extra step and actually fall asleep to the point of having my face hit the computer desk.  about a month ago it was my forehead,to be precise my eyebrow that hit the desk and I split that open and gave myself a nice black eye to go along with the cut.  So then last night once again there is Karen dozing off and tipping this way and that till sure enough bammmm!!!!!!!!!! face hits the edge of the desk only this time it was my upper lip that hit which proceeded to cut through my lip in 3 places where my teeth are uneven and give me a huge fat lip.  This morning after I woke up I called downstairs to Jay that the closest he was going to get to kissing Angelina Jolie was now and then showed him my mouth.

So ppl are starting to kinda give us wierd looks around town like Jays smacking the crap outta me on a regular basis with all my owies.  And then to make matters worse,I walked over to Subway with Jayson tonight to check on sales and help one of his employee's who screwed up and computer.  It's cold here tonight and still lots of slush and snow on the ground so I was extra careful walking there and back home and even held Jays hand on the slick parts.  So I get and I crap you not,5 feet from our door and Jay was already up on the porch and I spin out of control and bam!!!!!!!!!!! hit the blacktop parking lot.  Of course I start bawling and Jay looks back and yells OMGGGGGGGGGGG and runs over to me and he is helping me up and we figure out that I stepped on a lil piece of wood that came from a shattered railroad tie that had been lining our yard but a guy that plowed the parking lot the other day hit it and it busted into a ton of pieces.  So I hit this wood and I guess I stumbled and as I was falling face first I put my arm out to protect my face cause that was headed for the above ground sprinkler that goes to our spinkler system and that would have hit my eye and instead that skimmed off the side of my head but I hit my right arm and left hand and omgggggggggg my left knee and leg right on the blacktop.

Jayson helped me up and inside the house where he cleaned up my bashed and bloody leg and hand.  I will be a sight tomorrow cause now to go with my messed up lip I will be limping more than usual.   I know that I have some damage from my strokes last year on my right side but since I got the fibromyalgia I am way more clumbsy then before.  Do any of you guys have trouble with being off balance and being way more clumbsy since getting fibro?   All I know is if this keeps up I am going to end up in the hospital or dead.  Not sure how my leg and arm and hand will look tomorrow but I am betting pretty black and blue specially since my knee is all swelled up and besides the cut it is turning dark purple already.  Everytime I tell my daughter or mom about my latest mishap they are always going omggggggggg woman!!!!  So I can add this to also having a unhealed torn hip joint and a healed dislocated shoulder from last year lol.  Got to laugh to keep from crying lol.  Take care and have a safe and low pain night.

Soft Hug's,

Karen,

It sounds like your morphine could be causing you to nod off. Please be careful. I have seen this happen before, it isn't safe. Be careful driving.

Have you talked to the doctor about what is happening? You might need something to help you stay awake during daytime hours.

I hope that you feel better soon. You do have a lot of owies.

Luv and hugs, Karen

I was nodding off way before I took pain relievers. In my case it was sleep apnea. You need to rest and use a mobility aid other than just a cane. A walker or a power chair will keep you safer.

I had balance problems from fibro. In fact, I still do. This is one of the reasons that I exercise so often, I hope it improves my balance.

As we get older we naturally have more difficulties staying upright. this is why exercise becomes more important as we age.

Hang in there sweetie

Buy more band aids.

Sleep apnea is strange, we don't realize how often we wake up in the night time. I am tempted to do a sleep study, but afraid of the results. I take adderall to keep me awake or else I would be doing the same thing. It is no fun to fall asleep with a cup of coffee in your hand. I use to do that every morning.

Best wishes to both of you for a wonderful painfree day.

Hugs, Karen

I dont have narcolepsy,I dont fall asleep during the day unless its right after my meds for about 15 minutes and thats only if I havent gotten more then a few hours sleep the night before.  My problem is fighting sleep and staying up way later than I should.  Once I go to bed I sleep pretty good.  But I'll take an ambien and normally that takes about an hour to kick in with me but then I force myself to go past that and stay up a few hours more and thats when I get into trouble with falling asleep at the computor.  However I do have apnea I was already tested but cant handle the c-pap mask.

Karen,

I thought I was having problems with balance & falling asleep at the computer, but now mine seems to be just a small inconvenience!

I too have sleep apnea. Have you asked your dr. to try some different masks? They have a great one out right now that you can't even feel. It is so soft and flexible that you hardly notice it is on.

I fall asleep all day long no matter how much sleep I've had. My hubby checks me every night when I am on the computer. It is the only room that I smoke in and I have about 8 new burn marks on my desk now. Really stupid, I know. I have started being more careful.

Please see your doc about this before your hubby puts you in the hospital for a long time! lol

Hugs!!!    Margie

Omg Margie you should see my keyboard!!!! It has too many burn marks to count but thats not from me falling asleep. I have this wierd problem of when it gets late and I am tired at all I cant hold onto a cigarette or cup unless I really concentrait on holding it in my fingers. I have put a smoke in my hand and watched for it to drop!!! its like I have hardly any feeling in my fingers when I am tired. So I too am very careful and have gotten pretty fast at retrieving smokes that fall. I am totally awake when this happens and when I am too the point where I am really tired or overtired I dont smoke at all. I have tried several masks and I just cant stand having anything near my face when I am sleeping including even a piece of hair or my covers.

You guys are scaring me, please be careful. I don't smoke at my computer desk so I don't have that problem. But this could end up being dangerous. I care too much about both of you not to mention it.

But without my adderall, I could sleep day and night. And still be tired. Maybe you should approach your doctors about it. It really helps to give me a more productive day. If I don't go to sleep within an hour after taking my ambien, it doesn't work. I use to not take it every night, but now I do. I have gotten really use to it. I can sleep without it, but it gives me a more restful sleep.

Hugs, Karen
