Ugh I HATE Michigan! We made it thru all those stupid blizzards without losing power but we got some major winds Saturday night and we lost power at 5am Sunday morning. Since i wasn't sleeping at the time (of course), I called DTE where I was told that the estimated repair time was 5 hours. Okay, I thought. I'll just go to sleep and when I wake up, everything will be back on.

WRONG!

It is now MONDAY at 9 AM and I have NO POWER STILL. No heat, no electric, no anything! And now DTE is saying that not only do they not have an estimate as to when power will be restored, they haven't even assigned a crew to my area! You're kidding me!!!! I called it in at 5am as soon as it happened! We have been freezing. Not to mention we live sub-level so it's even colder! I am so achy and tired today. I haven't slept since...Friday? I haven't eaten since Saturday.

Sorry, just needed to vent. I'm frustrated and irritated and just very grrr today skull

I am in Michigan too. We have power, but this is the worst winter that I can remember out of the 50 years that I have been here. We got rain for two days and then a blizzard again. My roof was leaking and I am worried about my trialer caving in. I don't live there, but it has a lot of my stuff in it.

I have had a cold or something that is relentless. Coughing all night. The weather isn't helping any. Every time I turn around it is snowing again. Now they are talking temps in the teens. So I feel your pain. Michigan can really suck.

Hugs, Karen

I take it your at work or somewhere this morning where it is warm. I know being without power is the pits. It is something we take for granted til it goes out. We have been lucky so far with the ice and winds we have had. The cold would get to me real quick too. Why haven't you eaten since Sat??? I know you couldn't cook but didn't you have something to make a sandwich out of???

I hope they get it restored by tonight.

hp21,

Grrrr! mad    I hate when there's no power.  It really does remind me just how dependent we are on electricity.  LOL-do you do what I do and still try to turn the lights on?  I usually continue to try to flip the switch and then realize what a dumb*** I am. blush

I'm not looking forward to living through the Upstate SC ice storms again. shakehead   It hardly ever snows here, but the ice storms are much more dangerous.  LOL-and the way people drive in the snow/ice here is like the way people drive in the rain in SoCal...crazy! smhair

Anyway, I know you are frustrated, so I hope that your power is restored ASAP.  I know that I can't go 10 minutes without a TV or computer, so please know that you are much more patient that I am. wink

Lol, I have been hitting those light switches like crazy and then cursing at myself for even trying! I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I am at work this morning...only because if i didn't show up, I wouldn't get paid for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after. Believe me, if we don't have power tomorrow, I will most likely be staying home.

I'm SO frustrated! No TV, no computer, no lights, no heat, no microwave, no stove! Ugh, it's like I'm Amish!!!

Oh someone had asked why I hadn't eaten. We don't have anything in the apartment that either isn't in the fridge/freezer or requires heating up. We have bread....but the lunchmeat is in the fridge. And I don't get paid till Wednesday so of course, I'm broke lol.

Oh man, I just checked the DTE website and they said that they are "hoping" to have power restored by Tuesday. Oh my god, I may go crazy if I have to wait that long! I need TV! I need to see Real Chance of Love tonight! (Lol, yeah my priorities may be a little out of whack)

hp21,

Girl, if your priorities are out of whack, then so are mine!  Last week I was waiting for the movers to arrive with all my stuff from CA, and they were so late, I missed The Hills finale! shocked    Luckily, they replay it 100 times (if it's on MTV or VH1, you're good), so I got to see it, but I wanted to see it at 10PM with the rest of the world! sad   I know that Real Chance at Love will be replayed, too-even though you want to see it tonight.  BTW-I like Real much more than Chance, LOL. wink

Anyway, I really do hope that your power comes back on, soon.  Hope you get to see the Stallionaires tonight! smilewinkgrin

Lol I would have been mad too! I set my DVR to record The Hills Finale and it cut off the last few minutes! I was so irritated! That Spencer's a sneaky one...I don't trust him for a minute. Can't wait for Brody's new show to come out...he is SO HOTT!!!! lol
Real seems like a more down-to-earth person. Chance cracks me up though lol. I am sad/proud to say that I am addicted to reality TV drama!

I'm with you though...I know it'll repeat a zillion times but I wanna watch it when it's supposed to be on!! Lol, do I sound whiney or what? I'm glad someone understands though!

I *FINALLY* got an update from DTE. Their wonderful automated liarpants machine said I can expect my power on within 12 hours.

I'm torn between a Homer Simpson "Woo hoo" and a Homer Simpson "D'oh!"

I'm glad it's going to be back on but seriously, 12 hours??? I am not the kind of girl who can go without power! I can barely survive camping!!! I guess I should just be happy that it's coming on, period. Though with my luck, I could see it going back out again tomorrow lol

And I'm going to miss Real Chance of Love!!! Well at least the first broadcast...I'm sure I can catch it one of the other 8200 times it plays, but still!

You should keep peanut butter and crackers in the house, along with single serving fruit.  Have tuna fish and when you're at a fast food or buffet, pick up the little packet of mayo and keep them for emergencies.  You can make tuna salad with these.  These are some of the things I do in preparation for hurricane season with the chance of power outages.

I like roughing it at a resort.

We have had terrible weather conditions in the states. I hope everyone everywhere has nice weather soon, and electricity, and, food, and warmth, and gas, and, internet service, etc.

I think I will get a credit card for use in hotels only during things like snowstorms, loss of electricity, etc.

hp21,

First of all, I hope your power is back on. yeah

But, more importantly, I hope that you got to see your shows last PM.  BTW-I don't know how old you are (I'm thinking 21, hence your screen name), but I am 37 years old and very addicted to reality TV.  I still remember the very first Real World! shocked    And don't even get me started on Spencer.  I really think he's got to be fake-cause no one is that much of an a******.  I'm with you, Brody is Suuuper hot, but he also knows he is.  To me, that makes him less attractive (but still fun to look at, LOL). wink

Anyway, if you ever need someone to talk to about reality shows, I'm your girl.  I watch everything from Jon & Kate + Eight to The Bad Girl's Club (and everything else in between). smilewinkgrin

We had to go to a motel a few years ago when a tornado took out 13 electric poles right outside of town and it took days to get them all back up cause DH didn't have a TV to watch. After one night of that I went and bought a battery operated TV for him, cheaper than a motel. Now I guess when they change the TVs over the battery operated TV will be junk. I used it not that long ago to go to sleep after a car hit a pole and we were without electric for hours.

We use to camp when the boys were growing up but we did it with a fully furnished camper and a group of friends so it was fun. Now roughing it is staying in a motel that doesn't have a frig, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer and great cable TV.

Well after 52 hours, my power has finally come on! Sunday morning they said 5 hours till it would be on. Monday they said 12 hours (meaning it would be on at midnight). Then Tuesday they said 24 more hours! Luckily it finally came on yesterday at 2pm...right in time for a 2 hour block of One Tree Hill on Soap Net, woo hoo!!!

Kelly - I'm actually 28....that whole 21 thing goes back to an ex...long story lol. I didn't get to see Real Chance of Love OR Bromance!!! But I have both programmed to record this week, so hopefully my power won't go out again! lol Oooh I watch Bad Girls Club too! I missed the first season, but got into it last season. Is it just me, or do the girls this season seem a lot younger then last season?

The Real World! I started watching it sporadically on Season 3 with Puck but then I went back and watched Seasons 1 & 2 (I used to have a big crush on Eric Nies from season 1!).

The one I really can't wait for is Big Brother. I am SO addicted to that show! And American Idol...it's gone downhill, but I've watched it since Season 1 and I can't NOT watch it! lol

But I can't wait for Bromance....Brody is just...wow, he's hot! He is kind of cocky...I always kind of liked that...to an extent. Oh he's so beautiful though :-)

HP, happy to hear you have power again. The power goes out easily where I live and you can count on it during severe weather here in the spring and summer. Never for 52 hours though- the longest we were without power was for one day.

Oh yeah my boyfriend stopped and talked to the DTE guys when they (finally) came out to work on our problem and the DTE guy even said that since the other neighborhoods around us were fixed on Sunday, we should have been also. We were "skipped for some reason". Well wonderful. Because we were "skipped", I now have NO food left in the fridge/freezer that's still good. I don't have the money to get more groceries - I had just bought those last week. I don't know what we're going to do :-(

Not that I know of. I don't know what I would qualify because technically I make decent money, but I'm on an Intermittent leave from work so when I miss work, I don't get paid. My copays are $45 a pop and I'm at a different doctor or physical therapy at least once a week....add in scripts and all of that and I'm normally grocery shopping at the dollar store, literally. This month I actually had enought money to go "real" grocery shopping and now all my groceries are gone.
