Over the last 4 or 5 days I have had swelling in both feet. It's not like the swelling I usually have once in a while. This time my feet are double their size and they burn so much. On each foot (on the inside) there is a bulge that is red and feels all bruised. They feel like they could pop, they are so tight. I also have creases on the front where my feet meet my legs. They are red and seem to be dry or scabbing?

I guess I am afraid because they have never swelled like this and everything feels different. My legs are tight too. They feel like I am flexing them all the time. I go to my Rheumatologist on Wednesday and just figured I'd find out something then. My sister has been bugging me to go to a clinic. She freaked when she saw them which probably scared me more! Sorry I rambled so much. Anyone have swelling this bad or any advice to make me feel better? I would appreciate anything at this time!

Yup, go to the clinic... There are about a kabillian things that could cause this and none of them are good! Could be really serious. Keep us posted.

Do not panic. It happens to me sometimes and it is due to fibro (according to my doctor). When I exercise I collect less fluid in my feet. If I do not, hI have football sized ones.

Furthermore, my doctor gives me a diuretic to take as needed.

I don't know how much sitting you do, but my husband teaches on-line and sits at a computer for hours at a time and his feet and legs do exactly what you are describing.  His feet and ankles get so swollen the flesh pools over his shoes and he has to take them off...this also happens when he has to stand teaching in a classroom for prolonged periods of time.  The veins and vessels in his ankles actually break and they look bruised, and they itch and burn. He has been to the doc many times for this and they assure him it is temporary edema from sitting or standing too long.  I don't know if this could be the cause of what you are experiencing but you should go to a doc as soon as possible and have it checked out.

I also had this happen to me when I was taking some kind of analgesic for pain after surgery...I don't remember what it was....maybe Percogesic.  Just have it checked out!

Margie if you have access to an after hours clinic I would go get it checked out as soon as possible. Why take a chance. I have never dealt with swelling, not even when I was pregnant, so I don't know much about it.

luv and hugs
