I was dx'd in 2005.  Today all of my joints hurt, different from the usual pain I feel with the Fibro.  This disease is so horrific, I don't go anywhere due to the pain.  My sister has FM as well.  But she's able to get out most days.  I ache.  I take Vicodin 750 mg along with Flexeril and  Cymbalta.  My Rheumy won't give me anything stronger, and I understand that.  But some persons are on Morphine Patches, Vicodin 1000 or Demerol/Dilaudid.  Sometimes I have to overtake the V's because of the pain.  I don't know if I should ask for something stronger or just deal with the pain.  Some doctors are afraid of DEA tracing the scripts they write.  I'm just in pain.  Anybody's joints hurting, even after taking pain medicine?  Please let me know.  The symptoms are vast....... confused

Welcome eXcelon,

I understand what you mean about needing something stronger for pain. When I first started seeing my Rheumatologist it took quite awhile for him to get me to a place so I was at least mildly comfortable.

I still hurt bad sometimes, especially when I am in a flare, but I have tried some of the things advised from others on here. Warm bath with Epsom Salts, heating pad, stretching exercises, (found in "Fibro 101" thread, 2nd from top), and just getting up and moving around. I've found that they do help. If I sit or lay too long it does make me feel worse. By getting up and doing things around the house, I find that I feel better.

If you are hurting that bad and nothing helps, I would mention it to your doctor. Maybe he will be able to give you something to get you thru the bad times. Good luck & hope you start feeling better.

Hugs!!  Margie

In the end I had to get meds from a pain specialist, I wear a patch which has helped alot, the norm meds did nothing for me at all and everyones pain is different so you are the one to determine how bad it is and whether getting worse.  I was vomiting from pain before and now I can at least function but still some pain..          sue2z

Welcome eXcelon!! Glad you have found us :-)
I understand what you mean.. and in the end I may end up asking for pain meds also, but since I have been diagnosed all I have taken were muscle relaxers prescribed by my family doctor.. they didn't give me any relief whatsoever. Yes, I am on nothing AT ALL medication-wise because I have issues with meds and certain views (a story in itself)
BUT I will end up needing something too I am sure because things are getting bad. Till then, I will continue to use natural remedies smurf
I have been vomiting a lot though because the pain gets so unbearable that it makes my stomach uneasy.. ugh, what to do, what to do confused I do use Lidoderm Patches though and they have helped a lot to a certain degree..
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you whether or not to just stick to the Vicodin or get something stronger.. due to the fact I don't even take anything at all so I don't know what relief is felt from the Vicodin.......
But I mainly just wanted to welcome you, sorry for rambling LOL

Currently I am only on flex and Tylenol and a anti-inflammatory med. None of which are helping with pain. I am currently not seeing a specialist because I don't have insurance but my pc is helping and very understanding. He said right now we are going to experiment with all kinds of cocktails til we get it right. He is pushing for me to get disability so he can send me to a neurologist and other docs.
Fibro, interstitial cystitis, migraines, rotated femur, bunion on rt ft, hiatal hernia, for just a few.

reglan, prilosec otc, nadol, citrilipram, flexeril, and peroxicam, and Tylenol.
