Hi Everyone,

I think it would be a great idea to have everyone who wants to, to contribute their favorite song or poem that helps to uplift and/or inspire them. You can also contribute ones that help to express your feelings whether good or bad. I only ask though that if they arent positive, to please give a warning.

If you like, you can just write the name of the song you like, or you can post the lyrics, or couple of lines of lyrics that you like the best. Also, you can post your favorite poem or even one youve written. I would like to start by posting one of my favorite songs.

"Arms of an Angel" -Sarah Mclaughlin

I would also like to post a poem i wrote, but will post that later when i find it.

Thanks!

Hi Kim.

I just love Sarah.  My favorite is Fumbling towards Ectasy(Sp).  That was the first album of hers that I had ever heard.  I listened to it over and over and over.  I have most of her work, but nothing lately.  In the arms of an angel makes me cry.

Here is a poem that I try to live by.  I hope that you all enjoy this.

It is called Desiderata.  I think that it has a good way of looking at life.

Hugs, Karen

Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. I agree. I like a poem by Fritz Perles: You go your way and I go mine. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations and you are not in this wor.ld to live up to mine. You are you, and I am I, and if we meet, it's beautiful. I listen to Serena Ryder when I need to cry. I had a  Laura Smith album that I would say was my all time favorite but my son loaned out my getto blaster and whoever got it, that CD was inside. I never got it back and I had to get over being peeved. I had looked everywhere for it but haven't been able to replace it.

I have so many beautiful poems that I could share.  It's one of my hobbies on the internet.  Through the years I have saved so many, but this one is my very favorite.  It's In The Valleys Where I Grow.

I'm going to try to Hyperlink it.  If it doesn't work for me, I'll copy and paste it.

God Bless!

It hyperlinked it, but not on the page of the poem, so I'll just copy and paste it.

Sorry, this was my first time trying.  I'm still learning after all these years.

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember,
That it's in the valley I grow,

If I always stayed on the mountain top,
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love,
And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn,
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valley I grow.

I do not always understand,
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing,
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining,
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder,
This it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me,
Lord, And use my life each day
To share your love with others,
And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys, Lord,
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious,
But it's in the valleys I grow!!!!!!!!

I would LOVE to post one of my poems, I've been writing since I was 11 and have over 500 of them stored away.. BUT I have not gotten anything copy-writed yet (family would like me to publish them) so I am hesitant about putting them on this site.. NOT BECAUSE OF ANYONE HERE, just because of people passing by..
SO: I WILL share my favorite poem in the world, I agree with every single thing she says in it (even about the color green smurf ), it has nothing to do with pain or anything and doesn't "get me by" I just love the style in which it was written.. it's not a rhyming poem, but it is remarkable to me, I have it where everyone can see it right in my living room:

"POSSIBILITIES"

I prefer movies.
I prefer cats.
I prefer the oaks along the Warta.
I prefer Dickens to Dostoyevsky.
I prefer myself liking people
to myself loving mankind.
I prefer keeping a needle and thread on hand, just in case.
I prefer the color green.
I prefer not to maintain
that reason is to blame for everything.
I prefer exceptions.
I prefer to leave early.
I prefer talking to doctors about something else.
I prefer the old fine-lined illustrations.
I prefer the absurdity of writing poems
to the absurdity of not writing poems.
I prefer, where love's concerned, nonspecific anniversaries
that can be celebrated every day.
I prefer moralists
who promise me nothing.
I prefer cunning kindness to the over-trustful kind.
I prefer the earth in civvies.
I prefer conquered to conquering countries.
I prefer having some reservations.
I prefer the h*** of chaos to the h*** of order.
I prefer Grimms' fairy tales to the newspapers' front pages.
I prefer leaves without flowers to flowers without leaves.
I prefer dogs with uncropped tails.
I prefer light eyes, since mine are dark.
I prefer desk drawers.
I prefer many things that I haven't mentioned here
to many things I've also left unsaid.
I prefer zeroes on the loose
to those lined up behind a cipher.
I prefer the time of insects to the time of stars.
I prefer to knock on wood.
I prefer not to ask how much longer and when.
I prefer keeping in mind even the possibility
that existence has its own reason for being.

I found some song lyrics today online that i would like to share:

"I SHALL OVERCOME" by HARD-FI

New day dawning, I wonder what it holds for me,
Sun is shining, I Don't think that it will shine on me
I look around, nothing seems to have changed,
This dirty town, it hasn't some how rearranged

And I stand up, but I get knocked straight back down,
"Just give it up" they say, "We just don't want you around
Not one of us, and we don't like to share."
Mouthful of dust, but I'll get even I swear...

I hear your voice, call my name, but in my heart, It's still pouring rain,
And it ain't pretty, no it ain't pretty...

But you say "Hold on, hold on... believe me,
All the plans against you one by one, will come undone."
I shall overcome.

Through my tears, I try to see your face,
But doubt and fear come calling, and crowd my head with words of hate,
I scream out please! Don't leave me hear alone,
Down on my knees, without you and without hope...

I hear your voice, call my name, but in my heart, It's still pouring rain,
And it ain't pretty, no it ain't pretty...

But you say "Hold on, hold on... believe me,
Love is here and I won't let you down, stand your ground.
Hold on, hold on... It's easy,
All the plans against you one by one, will come undone."
I know I shall overcome.

Just in time you call my name, pull myself up, to fight again.
I'll never let you down...

"Hold on, hold on... believe me,
Love is here and I won't let you down, stand your ground.
Hold on, hold on... It's easy,
All the plans against you one by one, will come undone."
I know I shall overcome.

I think one of my favorite songs is What a Wonderful World sung by Louis Armstrong.

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD
Louis Armstrong

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world

I think that this has become one of my all time favorite songs:

Blessed-Martina McBride

I get kissed by the sun
Each morning
Put my feet on a hardwood floor
I get to hear my children laughing
Down the hall through the
Bedroom door
Sometimes I sit on my
Front porch swing
Just soaking up the day
I think to myself, I think to myself
This world is a beautiful place

I have been blessed
And I feel like Ive found my way
I thank God for all Ive been given

At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones
That love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed

Across a crowded room,
I know you know what Im thinking
By the way I look at you
And when were lying in the quiet and
No words have to be said
I think to myself, I think to myself
This love is a beautiful gift

Repeat chorus

When Im singing my kids to sleep
When I feel you holding me
I know

Repeat chorus

I got married in September and my great grandma, grandparents, mothers (3 of them) and Groom's dad all walked down to this song. It was a beautiful start to a wonderful day...and life!! :-)

I love lyrics to songs. I think they can really just capture a thought or feeling or tell a story and they can paint amazing pictures.

I have a couple songs i want to post the lyrics to which i think have great lyrics.

"ANYWAY" -Martina Mcbride

You can spend your whole life building,
Something from nothing
One storm can come and blow it all away,
Build it anyway
You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

(Chorus:)
God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray;
It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway,
I do it anyway

This world’s gone crazy
And it’s hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today.
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart,
For all the right reasons,
And in a moment they can choose to walk away
Love ‘em anyway

(Repeat Chorus)

You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway,
Yeah sing it anyway

Yeah! Yeah!
I sing, I dream, I love
Anyway

"LIFE'S A CLIMB" -Miley Cyrus

I can almost see it.
that dream I'm dreaming, but
there's a voice inside of my head, tellin'
you'll never reach it
every step I'm takin'
every move I make
feels lost in no direction,
my faith is shakin'
but I gotta keep tryin'
gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
always gonna be an uphill battle
sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
ain't about how fast I get there
ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
it's a climb

The struggles I'm facing
the changes I'm taking
sometimes they knock me down, but
no I'm not breaking
I may not know where, but
these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most
I've just gotta keep goin', and
I gotta be strong
just keep pushing on, but

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
always gonna be an uphill battle
sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
ain't about how fast I get there
ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
it's a climb

Keep on movin'
keep climbin'
keep faith baby
It's all about, it's all about
the climb
keep the faith, keep your faith, woah
.Kim.
