Prune juice.  It's not just an old wives tale.  I drank one glass of it after a serious bout of constipation and let me tell you...IT WORKED!

Hmm, you've tried prunes? I always had a serious problem with constipation, for as long as I can remember, and prune juice ALWAYS helped it.

How much fruit do you usually eat? I've heard that pears, oranges, and grapes work best for constipation... I eat so much fruit now in my daily diet from being a vegetarian that I don't have problems often anymore with constipation.

I've also heard spinach helps too!!

OK, I found this info for you on a site:

Food should be properly chewed. Hurried meals and meals at odd times should be avoided. Sugar and sugary foods should be strictly avoided. Foods which constipate are all products made of white flour, rice, bread, pulses, cakes, pastries, biscuits, cheese, fleshy foods, preserves, white sugar, and hard-boiled eggs.

Ugh, I hope something helps you!!!!

Hi,

I had the same problem. I now take 2 fiber supplements each day to keep me regular. My  constipation is caused by some of the medication I am on. I never miss a day because I don't want to go thru that again.

Also, the first few weeks that I started the fiber supplement, I had to take 4 each day until I got on track. Good luck!

Hugs!!  Margie

dolphin, I have dealt with constipation for years & have found that if I eat a bran muffin w/raisins & also yogurt everyday I stay fairly regular.    I love them both so it is not a chore for me but something I look forward to eating.  Hugs, Denise
