Okay what is everyone taking as far as narcotics?

I'm taking percocet's that are midly cutting the pain and keeping me up all night even with a  Ambien CR. I put a call in for my doctor so change my meds. Is anyone at the point where they are taking things on a timely basis vs pain? I think that I'm at the point where I need to have per time per day vs just wait for the pain because when I do that it takes so long for the meds to do their jobs.

So what are you taking?

I take vicodin when I feel like I want to sever a painful limb and ibeprofin just isn't cutting it. It doesn't do much though, just makes me kind of happy sometimes.

I don't take narcotics but I do take ibuprofen with food several times a day.  I have to take 600 mg at a time for them to help me.  And, I don't wait until the pain get really bad.  If I'm in a flare, I take it every six hours.  Now, I'm not in a flare so now I'm forgetting to take the ibuprofen half of the time so that means I'm taking half the meds I was taking just a month ago.

Hi

I take hydrocodone (vicodin) (7.5/ 750)2 times per day (3:30 after work) and then 9:30 before bed. I take the same time every day just to maintain the pain symptoms. I do not exceed that amount

My Dr. just gave me Lyrica but I am cautious with new meds, and it takes me a while to actually take it. I did try cymbalta but I had too many side effects.

I am also scheduled to go for a sleep study as well as another MRI on my cerebellum tonsils, my internist wants me to be tested for Chiari malformation syndrome because my balance is so bad.

I use a buprenorphine patch that gets changed weekly, it has really helped me. Ive been on it one and half years.  Every so often I try a lower dose just to make sure.   sue2z

I take norco, which is a 10 mg vicodin. It has helped so far. I make sure to stay on my schedule with it because if the pain sneaks in, it takes that much longer for it to work. Don't get me wrong, I always have pain, but I can handle some pain. I have always had a high pain tolerance. Lucky for me.

I try to keep my mind busy so that the pain goes into the background and I don't think about it that much. You would be surprised with what the power of the mind can do.

I hope that you can get your pain under control.

Hugs, Karen

I take Ibuprofen 600mg every 6 hours when I am flaring but like Sherrine I don't take as much when i am not flaring.  I take it as needed then.  My pain is less of an issue since I got my sleep problems somewhat under control.  If you don't sleep you don't heal so you have more pain.  Also, for me the fatigue has always been my main problem.  Like alot of the others I can live with a certain amount of pain, I just forget it or don't notice it for whatever reason.  I call it my background pain, it's there but I think I am so used to it I don't really notice it on a conscious level.  Hope you find some relief for you pain.  Take care of yourself, hugs, Denise

I have:  Fibromyalgia, CFS, Holt-Oram Syndrome, nasal allergies, depression, TMJ

Denise, have you had your vitamin D level checked?  I was taking 1,000 IU of D for several years and still tested low in D!  I now take 2,000 IU a day (that includes the vitamin D supplements, the D in my calcium supplements, and the D in my multiple vitamin) and my fatigue is better and my pain in less!  Be sure it is D3.

I use the Fentanyl patch(I only need to wear it for about 3 days) when I really can't take it anymore with my ultracet(tramadol/acetamenaphine). When I can't sleep or sleep thru some painful aches I'll take an ambien, but not when I am on the patch though, eeek, I probably wouldn't wake up. :-)

Vic and perc don't cut it for me anymore. I've always been able to take a ridiculous amount of any medication (ex: 60mg of oxycodone) without it having any of the effects that it does on other people. It's kind of like having a huge tolerance for everything, before you even take it. Right now I'm taking 8mg of dilaudid prn, it barely takes the edge off. Last night was the first time I'd slept since Saturday night becasue the pain was so bad. I'd give anything to find something that would work.

Now we list medications? This doesn't like, show up on google under your name or anything does it?

Xanax
Lamictal
Seroquel
Dexedrine
Baclofen

I don't list what I take and, yes, this can show up on Google.  It will show this thread and your user name.

I took the meds off just in case, but as long as my "real" name isn't traceable, it doesn't much matter. I once joined a "meetup.com" group for a psych disorder and it's still the first thing that comes up when you google me (though since I left the group the link doesn't go anywhere and thank god i have my MA in psych so it can easily be misenterpreted that I RAN the group). It still really upsets me that it shows up though.

Scarlett, I was surprised that this was on Google, but, after all, we are in the Internet.  Some members found us by googling fibromyalgia forums!

Welcome, Scarlett, by the way!  Can't you go to that site and delete what you wrote?  That might take it off the Internet.  It might be worth a try.

Things apparently don't disappear from google right away, so after I quit the group, the link remains. It was also there for quite a while before I realized it, WITH my note that i was joining as a new member...shudder. Thank you for the welcome =)
