Hi Ya'll
My name is Melissa, I normally post on the Lupus site, but thought I would join you all as well. I was diagnosed with Lupus in 1997 and then Fibro in 2000, the list continues as you can see from my signature line. My fibro hadn't been too much of an issue for awhile, my lupus has been taking center stage for the past year or so, but for the last week or so my fibro has decided to join the party as well. My muscles are really achy, my back and shoulders especially, of course this cold, rainy weather doesn't help any of it.
I live in West Texas where the weather is constantly changing. One day it could be 80 and the next 40, today we are blessed with 20 and 30's and freezing rain! So, seriously this throws my body into a flare. Let's just say my heating pad is my best friend these days!
I look forward to chatting with you all!

Hi Melissa!! What a pleasure it is to meet you!! So glad you've joined this board (even though it's unfortunate that you have to rolleyes ) I was diagnosed with Fibro in december so I am still very new to it and learning how to cope and what works/what doesn't. How is your lupus lately?? My old childhood friend has lupus (she's the same age as me).. her's got pretty bad I think from what I've seen/heard.
I look forward to hearing from you more but I do hope you feel better and that your Fibro lets up on you.

Hi Melissa,

Welcome to the fibro forum. If you are interested, we have a thread called fibro101. It is the second thread. There is a lot of information there and some pretty interesting things to read.

I noticed that you take norco, I do too. It helps a lot if I stay on top of the pain. If I let it get ahead of me, it takes the norco more time to catch up.

I am sorry to hear that you have lupus too. It can be such a hard disease to cope with. I hope that you have that under control, if that is possible.

I hope that your day gets better and that you stay with us. We are all here for you.

Hugs, Karen

Welcome to this forum. I'm glad you joined us!!

Lupus is such a hard disease. I have many friends on the lupus chat site although I don't have lupus myself. I do hope you can get it under control soon.

As for the fibro, that, I have and can sympathize with as well. The weather sure does affect the fibro. Especially the rain for me. It intensifies my pain right before the rain starts to fall. And this can be days before sometimes. It's just awful!!

I hope you continue posting here and that we can get to know you. You will find the most knowledgeable people here and the warmest as well. God bless you and I also send you gentle hugs.

Welcome, Melissa!  With fibro you need to keep moving.  If you sit or lay too much you will be stiff as a board.  The weather changes are murder, too.  It seems like the barometer plays a big least for me.
Check out the stretching exercise link in the Fibro 101 thread.  They really do help with that stiffness and they are easy on your body.
I'm so glad you decided to join in!  We have a great group of people on this forum with good ideas to help you live a full and enjoyable life with fibro.  Hope you stay with us.

Melissa, Welcome to the family. I'm sorry you're having such a bad time right now. My niece has Lupus and she has had so much trouble w/ it. It just breaks my heart.

It's nice to have you here w/ us. There are a lot of lovely ppl here, always willing to listen, and share ideas that may help and hold your hand when you just need a friend. I see you have been directed to the Fibro 101 posting, there is a lot of good info on that post. Ask questions, and pls share any ideas you have. We are all learning from each other.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

God bless. Alice.
