Does anyone out there have alot of pain around your floating ribs that sometimes migrates around to the front of the rib cage. I have read alot of posts concerning pain in the sternum region but not alot about pain in the back region.

Just went through a bout of that.  It lasted about 4-5 days.  Not fun.. kinda scary.

I am battling rib pain in the back, sides and front.  I get this frequently and it drives me crazy.  I thought it was a heart attack a year ago and went to ER.  They assured me it was the Fibro.  I use MOIST heat and lots of hot showers.  Also, you might try a Vicks.  For some reason that really seems to help me when I sleep.  This rib pain is NO FUN

Hope you feel better

my ribs hurt all the time, so bad that it is terribly painful to wear a bra on most days. i have switched to a sports bra and that helps some, but i really wish i could find a good, supportive bra 'cause i have a lot to support!

anyway-moist heat helps me out a lot, as does gentle massage of the area. massages hurt REALLY bad while i'm getting them, but afterwards i do feel some definite relief.

sorry to hear that you're going through this and hoping you feel better very soon!

Yes...I am just gettting over my left side currently. It migrates towards my back, it will affect my stomach when it's reeaaal bad. I have had pain on the right b/4 that encompassed the front and back. Just like sleepybug it can affect me in wearing a bra, excrusiating....

Before I got my diagnosis the side/front of my ribs were killing me and my doc thought it may be my gallbladder but with an ultrasound they found nothing. Go figure. So, I just dealt with it and complained to the doc some more. But after awhile it just migrated elsewhere...so just another fibro symptom.

I use my heating pad alot when this happens and keep from doing anything that requires lifting or reaching to far for something and relax as much as possible. Take Care, feel better soon.

I get this as well. My GI doc thought it was my pancreas but tests revealed it was ok. I never thoought it could be my fibro. He had me lay off my colitis meds for a few days just in case. The pain goes away for months and then comes back for a few weeks. All my tests are fine so its probably fibro.

I have this type of pain. I have it in the front on left and right, and also the back on left and right. I also have it near the sternum area. For me, this is caused by costochondritis.

I have it! It starts in my back and then it's really painful in the front. It hurts to breath so I try take really really slow breaths which gives me a bad headache which only worsens my pain. Also, strangely, it feels as if someone is biting my left side. The pain only covers about the size of someone actually biting me and it so painful. I have to wrap my whole upper body in a heating blanket for about an hour for some relief. It kind of just started tho. i was diagnosed with fibro in October and the past 2 weeks, have been getting a lot of rib pain!

ANOTHER thing that helps me with this is to make sure im breathing through my stomach area and not through my upper chest area. It makes my costochondritis much more aggravated if i dont breathe correctly and makes me in much more pain. Correcting my breathing has helped a ton.

Most of my pain is from the waist up so my ribs stay sore to some degree even when I don't have a broken one. tongue Sometimes it feels like I have a tight bra on and I don't have a bra on at all.

I find that moist heat helps far more than anything else. If you do a google search on costochondritis you will learn more about it. It is a problem in the tissue that connects the ribs to everything else. And it stinks. It is one of the scariest pains, but there isn't much that can be done for it.

My bra makes the pain worse. I'm considering wearing sports bras instead of these underwire things.

Strengthening my obliques and frontal abdominal muscles help. I do this in an aquatic aerobics class. However, it took a long time before it did anything and it does not guarantee that the pain is gone.

I go through this as well with the costochondritis. . . It is really scary and makes my anxiety flare up along with the pain from more tension. I just keep in this viscious cycle it seems, lol :) The consistant weather changes her in the Midwest aggravates the rib cage pain. I saw posts about the moist heat and breathing from the diaphagm. It helps out so much :) I am over on the A/P forum all the time and many of us do the breathing and relaxation exercises to be less tense as well. I know a lot of you that suffer with the darn fibro do them as well for pain management. One of my best friends suffers daily and does a few exercises with me when we get together. When we were young we would go to a club and now it's to do some therapy :)

And thank all of you for letting me come to your forum and post sometimes, cause us "costo" people don't have no where to go, lol :) Take care everyone and I hope things are going well with you all and that you get to feeling better :)
