Hey everybody!
Sorry,I've been outa touch last couple of days,I had those 12 teeth took out last thrusday.Whoa brother! This has been a bit tough, but, and this is the only time you'll hear me say this, thank God for fibro! If I hadn't had it,I don't think I could have tolerated the pain.My months of dealing with high pain levels made this seem a little easier.I've only wore the plate once, can't wear it yet with all that raw meat in there. Thanks again for all the pep talks and support from the members,it really helped me.Luv you guys! smilewinkgrin

Welcome back and glad all is well!  Let us know when your are able to chomp into a big juicy steak...or chocolate donut, in my case!  Did you ever think you would be saying 'Thank God for Fibro'?  I said the same thing when I fell and chipped a bone in my wrist.

Feel better

Did you get an imediate denture? The reason that I asked, is that you might want to keep it in so that your gums will form to it. It will be easier to wear that way.

I hope that the pain goes away.

Hugs, Karen

Oh hon, I am rooting for you. Congratulations for being so brave. I hate the dentist more than anything. So my hat's off to you!!

Hang in there. Soon you will be able to chew and I bet you'll look beautiful besides!!

God bless.

I'm glad that is over with for you.  I'm sure you can find plenty of goodies that you don't have to chew.  I could live on mashed potatoes.  Then there is ice cream...a favorite of mine.  You have pudding, Jello, homemade soup...lots of goodies out there and you will be chomping on steak and gnawing ribs off the bone in no time!

Oh my Orchid,

I had no idea you were tackling all 12. But it is over and apparently you did great. Is there someone to make you a big pot of homemade soup?? Hey, it is a diet too but what a way to lose IF you meed to.

Thinking about you,

Patsie

The dentist did not tell you to wear the denture 24/7. Wow, you are an unusual case.

I hope you feel better soon and I hope they gave you pain relievers. Do the salt water rinses 8 times per day, it helps.

Take care, Donnaeil

Hey Orchid!!
Glad you made it through!!! I knew you could do it!!!
Karen and Donnaeil mentioned wearing your plate while you are healing... they're right.  I've been there so I know.  You need to keep that in your mouth.. it acts as a pressure "bandage".  You'll heal faster if you keep it in your mouth and your gums need to form around it.  I know it hurts, but it's really important.  Call your dentist to double check.
Donnaeil also made the suggestion of salt water rinses... that REALLY helps with the pain and the healing.
I don't know if you like sherbert but that's a yummy taste treat, I used to put it in a tall glass and pour 7-Up over it... mmmm-mmmm!!  (I like raspberry best w/ 7-Up).
Another great thing about dental surgery is weight loss!!!  My sister and I both have had it done and we both lost about 30 lbs!!!  So if you need to lose weight that's a nice side effect.
I had to laugh about the good thing about fibro... I kinda felt the same way.  Like.. if people think this hurts, they ought to step into my shoes for a few days!!  Yeah, it hurt, but nothing like a bad flare, huh!?
Glad you're on the mend!!
Warm hugs,
Patti

I'm so glad you have gotten through this and you are doing well.  You will be smiling and feeling beautiful in no time at all!!

I've had a couple of dental surgeries (make that about 7) recently, and I got so sick of soup and ice cream.  I know this sounds weird, but I started eating canned/jarred spaghetti sauce (the plain kind).  I would heat it in the microwave, and it would help satisfy those cravings for "real" food (like pizza).  My favorite was Ragu.  :-)
