so in my months of absense, I have been feeling quite well ( although I am currently experiencing a flare...just coming on..hopefully it will leave FAST) I have had one very strange, and slightly worrisome thing happen... it happens about half way through a meal...I start to get dizzy, light headed...almost feels like anxiety. It has happened a lot of time at restaurants..and I have had to leave and go sit in the car. i am not sure if it is purely an anxiety thing..and if so..why is the happening all of a sudden? maybe its a blood sugar thing?? anyone have any thoughts?

An inner ear problem can cause the same sort of symptoms, especially in a busy place like a restaurant with lots of noise, movement, and visual stimuli.

I have an inner ear disorder, and I get dizzy a lot when I am in a "busy" environment.  With my disorder, I get vertigo out of the blue, but I'm also really susceptible to quick movements across my visual field, flickering lights, or  busy patterns (like striped wallpaper).  The dizziness from visual stimuli comes on really quickly, and if I remove myself from the situation, it usually goes away pretty quickly.

I know some other members hear have inner ear problems, so maybe they can add some insight to this possibility.

Hope you feel better soon.

Austen- thanks for the insight. I should look into this more.
I will try to make the relation to this short...if possible.... the thing that i believe was the beginning/cause of my fibro happend when I was a freshman in highschool. I had a "virus" i was in the hospital for 9 days, with many many odd symptoms. one of them was extreme dizzyness. I could not even sit up...the horrible dizzyness combined with lots of vomiting was the reason I went to the doctor in the first place. a lot of the symptoms i had came and went, but the dizzyness stayed the longest. my equilibrium was completely off. even for a month after i went back to the school, sometimes I would be walking down the hall, and find myself not able to walk in a straight line..and having some vertigo...anyways...long story...I look forward to what other people have to say on the subject.

Have you been checked for diabetes. This used to happen to my mother a lot. It was as if her mind was responding to the smell of impending food and recognised a blood sugar deficit, ergo a low blood sugar (hypoglycemic), attack. Try eating something small before entering a restaurant.

I was checked for diabetes..a few years ago. I am young (24) and besides this darn fibro, in great health. I do know that my mother is hyperglycemic...so some blood sugar issues do run in the family.
mostly...I just need a doctor. no one is accepting new patients..esp. with out health insurance. what a pain.

I have had alot of dizziness at times & quite a bit of vertigo.  I used to always think it had to do with my allergies but I had a very bad bought of it (about 3-4 months) of vertigo when my first symptoms of Fibro began.  I worked in a store, I was the person responsible for all the inventory so I would be out on the floor alot checking shelves.  Everytime I looked at an upper shelf I had to catch myself to keep from falling over, everything would spin & if I squatted down I couldn't get up because my other main symptom, loss of muscles or total muscle weakness in my hips.  All this started about the same time as the pain so I have figured it was Fibro.  I used Meclenaze (sp) it is for motion sickness & is over the counter now.  It really helped me.You might check with your Dr to see if this might help you.  Hugs, Denise
