Ugh! I feel so yucky, dear friends!

I had the beginning tickles of a cold last week, but nothing major. Then Monday the main water line at my kids' school burst and they didn't have school, so we decided to all go shopping. I think I overdid it, though, because Tuesday morning I woke up and BAM! Major cold city. Nose is all stuffed up. Throat is itchy. Lips are chapped. I've had no appettite and no ambition to do anything for 3 days now. My nose is raw from blowing it so much, there are piles of Kleenex everywhere. I'm living on vitamin C, water, and cough drops. My hair looks like I have a small rodent living in it, I can't stop sneezing, and I smell like Vicks Vaporub.

I've popped on here a couple of times, but haven't had the brain power to say much of anything. I see we have lots of new people, though, so a big warm Hello and Welcome to all the newbies! :-)

Anyway..just wanted to pop in and say Hi. I hope you guys are all doing well. I'm going to go crawl back into my germ infested hole now. Fortunately, I don't think I can pass this on to you all via the internet, but you might want to spray your computers down with Lysol just in case..
love and hugs

Danielle,

Sounds like you're doing all the right things...can I send some chicken noodle soup?

Hope you feel better soon,

Danielle,

Don't you know how many men are attracted to the smell of a woman wearing Vick's Vaporub? smilewinkgrin Seriously, I hope you feel better. It must be hard having to deal with fibro, a bad cold, and kids, too. I won't send you any chicken soup (out of respect to Mama Bird), but I will send lots of Kleenex and gossip magazines to make you laugh.

Feel better, little Sleepybug! yeah

Danielle, I do feel for you. I am FINALLY getting over that flu and man, it knocked me on my butt! Started just like you, sore throat, then a cold and then it headed south for my lungs and I ended up with bronchitis. It has taken me nearly two weeks to really feel ok. I think when we get a virus, it flares the fibro too. I was a mess. I certainly know how you feel. Take good care and feel better soon,
Miriam

I'm glad you still have your sense of humor and haven't blown that out. devil Have you tried Zycam, is that the name of it, not sure??? Ken has used it a few times when he has felt a cold coming on and it really works. Take care of yourself and I hope the miserable cold leaves soon.

Kelly you would think MB would share a chicken for a good cause.

Hope that you feel better soon. I had the crud last month. Even a flu shot didn't keep it away. It was more of a bronchitis type of thing too.

Keep doing what you are doing, I am sure that you will feel better soon.

I'm sorry you  are feeling so badly.  Colds can be so miserable.  Marlee is right.  I keep Zicam in the house at all times and take it when I travel...that and Mucinex.  The Zicam has stopped a cold in it's tracks for me but, if it doesn't, the cold doesn't last nearly as long.

Feel better.  Get well quickly since the party is in two days!  We want to see you in Florida.

Danielle, I hope you feel better soon.  I am so glad I didn't get a cold this year.  I have no kids at home & with no longer working in the Drug Store/Pharmacy I don't seem to get them as often.  I absolutely swear by Mucinex.  It has saved my life (ok overstating) but really, it alway helped me.  I haven't tried the Zycam but many people really find it helps to shorten the cold by 1/3-1/2.  Feel better soon.  Take a nice hot bath & put on clean pj's & get some sleep.  Hugs, Denise

Thank you everyone!!

I had my dad take my youngest this afternoon so that I could get some rest, and I ended up taking a 3 hour nap! (I can't remember the last time I did that..) I am still stuffed up, but do feel a bit better after my nap.

I do use Mucinex when needed, but have never heard of Zycam-what is it, exactly?

Hey Danielle...I've had that flu twice.  It's nasty.  Here is my cure.  Tie a wad of blue cheese around your neck with a string, then suck on a habenaro pepper for three mintues.  Pour yourself a nice glass of Metamucil mixed with two parts of vodka.   Drink this while pointing your left arm towards Venus and left leg towards the North Star.  Then sing the theme song from 'Two and a half Men' three times.

If you still feel sick, burn all your bills in a mayonaise jar and throw them in the driveway.

This always works for me...that's why I have only had the flu twice this year. turn

Gosh Donna I have some issues with bad luck that I think you can help me with, I just don't want to deal with any innards and pest strips. OK? Danielle I hope you are feeling less buggery. HA! I have a cure that works for me- 1 can each chicken broth and beef broth, 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar, tablespoon soy sauce, hot sauce [wasabi works well, just a half tspoon, chinese chili sauce works great] cubed tofu if you have it [or like it]. heat it and drink it slowly. the tofu is soft and absorbs the flavors, and adds protein in an easy way. I swear by this- it helps everything from head cold to achy joints to the blues, and yes, even the mean reds! Feel better! If anyone likes hot and sour soup, I will ask my hoosband for his recipe. I swear its medicinal for me.

It took me three weeks to recover from a nasty viral infection. I hope you get over this a lot quicker. The best things for me were rest, food and decongestants.

((((((Danielle))))))) ... ***spraying myself with Lysol after that big hug.. heheheh!!!

Seems that everyone in our neck of the woods has that nasty cold.  Hubby is just getting over it.

Zycam.. is the bees-knees!!! Its got a bunch of zinc in it.  We use the nasal swab version of the cold perventative .. the zinc blocks the sinus passages from the cold bug embedding itself.  You use it with the onset of a cold.. the minute you feel a cold coming on.  It really works!!! I use it a lot when I feel a cold coming.  Hubby is very prone to colds so I disinfect the entire house and use my Zycam.  I would say I get one cold to his five.. **knocking wood**.  For some reason, I don't catch colds to easily .. and I think its the Zycam and being a freak about washing my hands.

Hope you're feeling better soon.. Glad you got a chance to get some rest yesterday.

More hugs,

Patti
