HI,

Im 24 and was diagnosed very recently. I have not yet had any children but would like to try to soon. Has anyone here experienced being pregnant while having fibro? What was your experience like and how did you cope? Arent you not supposed to take any meds really when pregnant? Im nervous about the possibility of ever being able to be pregnant and survive. I have to take pain meds EVERY DAY to survive and also have a stomach condition called gastroparesis. Any comments or advice would be very much appreciated!!!
.Kim.

Hi Kim!

Even though I wasn't officially diagnosed yet, I had all the fibro symptoms before I got pregnant with my 3rd child. I actually felt tons better during my pregnancy, but ended up feeling a whole lot worse after I had him. (I did have a c-section, though). I have never taken any meds for my fibro, though, so I'm not sure how that works with pregnancy. There are some meds out there that have been proven safe because they don't seem to cross through the placenta and umbilical cord, but I'm not sure which ones they are. Definitely a good question for your dr.!

Hi Kim,

I think it is wonderful that you want to get pregnant. If I recall right, it seems to me that there have been others on the forum that said that their fibro symptoms lessened when they were pregnant.

Like Danielle said, I think that you should talk to your doctor about it. I think it is great, and I have faith that you will have a good pregnancy with little fibro problems.

Hugs, Karen
