Ok I know this is really strange but my eyelashes seem to be falling out and also breaking off. I have always had thin eyelashes. But now they look horrible I use to wear mascara to make them look fuller but now It makes them look worse.
Anyone else have this??? should I mention it to Dr. I have an appt. with ruem. on Monday...
Thanks to any one that responds.. cry rolleyes

Leeann- I can relate to this. When I was at my sickest, just before I was Dx with FM, my hair stopped growing- my eyelashes and eyebrows just stopped growing. They grow now, well eyebrows don't grow as well, but lashes are back strong. It was just something that had to halt, I feel, due to the FM. Eyelashes grow better now because I moisturize them along with my face twice a day. Take it easy on the mascara for a bit, use less and definitely not waterproof. Definitely mention it to the doc because many illnesses have hair loss or lack of hair growth as a symptom.

Hi Leeann-

I would think it would go under "hair loss"- I lost quite a bit of hair when I was first diagnosed on the top of my head. It is now growing back again, so hopefully your eyelashes will start to come back too.

Leeann,

I don't have any problems with my eyelashes, but my hair falls out a lot. sad I'm not really sure why this happens to people with fibro. I know that it happens with other autoimmune diseases. But, I'm still in the middle of being tested for a lot of things. Maybe we'll find the answer someday-hopefully before I need a wig! shocked
FINALLY dxd with fibro on 06/13/08
Neurontin, Ibuprofen for pain-which doesn't help
Zoloft & methadone (NOT for pain) for sanity-which doesn't help, BTW
Klonopin for anxiety (Guess what?  Doesn't help!)
Aciphex for reflux
Quit smoking 08/29/08 (used Chantix)

I use to have super long and full eyelashes. Now they are half the length and sparse. No wonder I look older (LOL, I am) too my hair has thinned considerably over the last couple of years. Sickness and pain can do that to a person. I guess all the energy, nutrients and oxygen goes to the healing of the organs first and our eyelashes and hair get it last.

LeeAnn, My eyelashes are fine but here's a really weird one, the hair under my arms is almost gone & I have very little hair on my legs anymore.  Not that I am complaining, I really don't have to shave my legs or under my arm hardly at all.  I asked a Dr I was seeing awhile back but she didn't seem to know why.  Now if my face would just moisturize itself & my hair would cut & style itself I will do a little happy dance.  Hugs to all, Denise
